NEVER!! The last day that an A-10 flies in the Air Force, will truly be a sad day.
No other manned or un-manned asset will ever be able to provide the Close Air Support (CAS) capabilities that has been provided by the A-10. It (Hawg) was on the chopping block after Desert Shield/Desert Storm, and got another 20 years of life with updated avionics. This time, with this Administration (aaaaahhhheeemmm, HAGEL), this beauty of an aircraft will see the graveyard. GJ (Prior Army "ground-pounder") |

It needs to be in total darkness, with four of these plugged in, the guy in the left seat flossing his teeth while describing the proper operation of the packs, a fuel light flashing intermittently, with a Maxim unread in your flight bag (because when the Boss says "lets read" he means the checklist, not your magazine) with four women in the back ignoring the hell out of you while you 5 minutes between starving to death and peeing your pants. i want to know why it is i can be dehydrated and yet feel like.my eyeballs are floating and my kidneys are about to rupture. maybe its because the mouth and throat dry up after four hours but your body as desperate as it is for water sees no value in water thats six hours old. |

One of the BEST sci-fi movies seen as a kiddo….I agree...that Maxmillian kept me from going to take a leak in the middle of the night…good thing I had a litter box in my room for the cat... http://i775.photobucket.com/albums/y...psbd432043.jpg Kinda reminds me of a 717 Mini Dog along side the Mad Dog |

The AF and army looked at giving the Hawg to the Army, but it violated the "roles and missions" of the army due to the hawg's range primarily. That was about 20 years ago.
The Army wanted the (CAS) capabilities the A-10 brought to their ground guys. So as a result of the Air Force trying to divest them after Desert Shield/Desert Storm (during the Clinton reduce the military era, sound familiar?), and instead of the Army Warrant Officer Corps assuming the mission, the Air Force decided to keep the airplane and upgrade it's avionics, engines, and weapon system, vice giving the a/c to the Army. Now, under the current Regime............errrr, I mean Leadership,.........errr, Administration, they again are reducing the military to Pre-WW II strength (we need to save all the extra money the military is burning up on the welfare/entitlement mentality economics of this country), and divest two MWS platforms. (e.g. U-2/A-10) GJ |
