Just got done reading the CAPA report and it occurred to me, what if the big push is to build brand and name recognition in the Pacific Northwest before the merger and the Alaska name goes away.

Kind of put the kernel in everyone's mind that Delta was there before anyone else who would try to come in after a Delta/Alaska merge?

What is the gate availability for us in SEA? Any restrictions on our future growth there?

Yeah, I forgot who mentioned that same thought earlier but it really is ruining the fun of dreaming about mass organic expansion.

I guess it was all just a Seattle wet dream.

Get it? Seattle, always wet, dreaming about Seattle = Seattle wet dream.

So how old are these 1400 Alaska pilots?

Not only how old, but haven't they hired a significant amount if their seniority list (i.e. 20-25%) in the last six years?

Who knows? If you look at the S terminal where most of our flights are, you would think we were severely limited on our growth but the last 4-5 times I've been there, we've gone in and out of B gates and A gates I think...it's hard to tell how many gates the Port Authority is going to let us use.

Obviously if we are announcing this growth, we have a way of parking airplanes somewhere but how much more space has been offered/committed is a good question.

And, by putting pressure on their market share, their share price goes down and we buy them at a discount.

I still think Hawaiian makes more sense. If we are worried about the Narita hub losing its strategic advantage, wouldn't Hawaii and some more heavies make for an ideal staging area for overflights into Asia? Not to mention the route authority Hawaiian has to all those Asian cities. (Although we probably have route authority to those Asian cities we aren't using right now.)

That is a good question. I didn't mean to get a SLI argument going, but maybe an Alaska guy could give us a drive by answer and prevent a lot of speculation.

As far as gates, couldn't they extend out the A gates like they did at T4 at JFK? That would give extra gate space and maybe all of our customers wouldn't have to take the train. I love going out of the B gates there.
