I think the 777 is profitable operationally but when you add in the cost to purchase and to carry the loan, maybe not so much. This is probably where the used aircraft market makes sense.

I have no problem with the used aircraft market, but the 777 is a long range airplane. It makes it's money on the last 3 hours of a 15-17 hour leg. That's what it was made to do, not fly intra-Asia, London and Amsterdam. Heck, NRT is a waste of time on it. Plus, there has been misalocation of the LR vs ER.

Emirates is dumping used 777s on the market btw.

None of what I said made any sense in retrospect.

I would agree, right aircraft for the correct route, its like using the 332 for ATL-SEA and ATL-LAX, super efficient long haul, short flights not so much.

The only thing that didn't make sense was you'd ditch a nympho because she didn't like green beans.

Yes.

Correct. Even the 744 with its 4 engines is optimized in certain markets like how it fed the NRT hub.

T,
My point is not that they will be as profitable as us, it is that they are profitable at all. Right now, RA and Co. Don't seem to be able to fly a 777 anywhere profitably, at least to hear them say it. BS.

I think they are gonna lose as much money as we are gonna make in Q1. Let's revisit it after the results are announced.

They do that when they buy a gigantic order of replacements. To them, the 777-200LR is old hat, they like the -300.

Well that is an interesting statement.

I like forward looking statements.

Speaking of forward looking, a few weeks ago, some rice dick measuring contests were going on with where guys bought and sold or held DAL.

What're the thoughts on the other mega mergers as far as which one will be the big play.
