Yeah, kinda makes a mockery of a FtB "analysis." I'm sure Check Essential and LTD will be joining in quickly.

Oh, and for another walk down memory lane....

What's the best way to get a buddy pass rider from JFK to Providence (or Newport) in June? I just looked at travel net and there is no service by air between the two, is there a train or bus line that runs up there? He's not going to rent a car and I don't want to drive into JFK to pick him up.

Perhaps he can get a bus/cab to LGA and then....? Fly the Shuttle up to BOS, then a bus to Newport or PVD?

We are doing a regatta in Newport for a week in June, he's flying in from Zurich on a buddy pass. I told him to fly into ATL then fly up to PVD on Delta, but is there an easy way to get from JFK to PVD?

Any ideas from you locals up there would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
Hey Timbo... Hobart "Hobie" Alton died yesterday... condolences.

R.e. the manning numbers, the fact of the matter is, we are still retiring wide body Capts. every month, and not replacing them.

I moved up 4 more number in category for May, and I'm up 16 since Cal retired a year ago March. Not a single replacement.

Thanks, I saw that on my catamaran board. A true innovator and legend. A long time ago I saw a video of him explaining how they came up with the first Hobie Cat, he was a surf board builder, and he simply took two long surfboards, laid them side by side, picked them up to form a V and said, "Hey, we could glue these together and make a hull!"

Here's a quick history on his innovations;

And if you think this Foiling stuff is new, check out this Tri Foiler from about 30 years ago:

Why doesn't he go ZRH-JFK. That service starts on June 16th.

Alan and Shiz,
Luckily, at least for me for research purposes, the March 2014 Crew Resources letter published March 2012, 2013 and 2014. It's nice when someone does that for us.

Got a question though, when they say domestic hours does that count domestic side of the ER or do they lump that in with international? My guess is domestic and international both include flying by the ER categories, so I can't break the two out. I'll have to just stick with total pilots.

Now what it said is pilot BH 2014 is up 3.8% compared to 2012. Domestic is up 7.8% compared to 2012 with 25% growth in 73N and 7% M88 time. International is 0.2% since 2012.

Anyways, it looks to be around 500,000 hours and multiplied by 3.8% you get around 530,000. Again going back to the category counts previously posted (2012: 10674 and 2014: 10653) it would give you a BH/pilot of:
2012: 46.8 BH/pilot
2014: 49.75 BH/pilot
There, I handed in my homework.

Very nicely done!! And totally consistent with going from being staffed 15.6% to 8.3% over the min required.

You need to read the forum, nobody ever said such a thing. What they were saying is we're decreasing how many pilots we would need. What we were told was that was wrong, we'd start hiring in... 2012.

Now, what is not a rumor that we have presented to the board a MD88/90 cockpit retrofit. What is a strong rumor is that it will allow a single category with the current fleet and the Saudi MD90s and AirTran 717s with the advanced cockpits.

The only thing is I was told specifically that the board wants every MD90 built and they want 717s. I just cannot for the life of me remember if it was "every" 717 or just 717s. However, it is our management pilots talking about AAI 717s.

What % over the min until the whole thing breaks?

I mean what if BH/ pilit increases another 3% in less than two years?
