Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
Short call question,
In my "Bucket", I am the most senior and there are 4 people junior to me with no short calls or flight time for the month. I had a carry in trip worth a little credit. How did I get the short call for tomorrow? I thought it was inverse seniority within your bucket and days of availability?
Thanks

I heard the story the other and then went and checked his blog, last entry was 2012. I flew with him just after he accepted job or knew he was going to and he was convinced we were going to liquidate. Told me I should get my app in while I could, sure glad I didn't.

Well, now almost everyone is on shortcall so it's a moot point, but I think the other folks "junior to me" in the same bucket are just starting their first day of reserve, while Im on day 2 of 8, so I think they can not be on short call until 1200. Haven't been on reserve in years, so I guess it's gonna be a treat!!!

Now he's back as an FO. It would be interesting to get his take on things. Do you think he regrets his move? I know I was very carefully considering doing the same thing. But, it never got so bad that I was willing to pull the plug. I think I probably made the right decision.
In any case WRT to the whole DCI sitch, can we at least, finally, all collectively admit we were never going to re-committ/heavy check/re-engine the world's largest 50 seater fleet? If for no other reason than lack of pilots? Can we at least admit that?
Or, if we can't admit that, at LEAST admit that if we did attempt to do that, the current management team would be in major hot water over an already imploding decision with a million articles in every stock feed about how it was one of the biggest blunders of the modern age?
We don't have to admit, accuse or even allege that anyone was duped or any bluff was fallen for or could have been called or whatever. But please can we finally admit they weren't going to re-engine the world's largest 50 seat RJ fleet and finally put that rhetoric behind us?

That's exactly the way it was planned and happening at Delta. DCI was going to shrink from 600+ to 450 airframes over the term of C2012. I don't know what's going to happen at UAL and AAL, but I suspect those management teams are salivating at the opportunity of using non-performance to break contracts.

Incident: Delta B738 at Las Vegas on May 2nd 2014, rejected takeoff
By Simon Hradecky, created Saturday, May 3rd 2014 21:59Z, last updated Saturday, May 3rd 2014 21:59Z
A Delta Airlines Boeing 737-800, flight DL-2483 from Las Vegas,NV to Atlanta,GA (USA) with 160 passengers and 6 crew, had been cleared for immediate takeoff from Las Vegas' runway 25R at 14:32L (21:32Z). The aircraft was accelerating for takeoff when tower cancelled the takeoff clearance about 40 seconds after the clearance for takeoff. The aircraft rejected takeoff at high speed, slowed safely and vacated the runway via taxiway A5 about 7500 feet/2250 meters down the runway. The aircraft returned to the apron.
A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration N3757D reached Atlanta with a delay of 6:40 hours.
The FAA reported a private aircraft was on approach to a crossing runway prompting the air traffic controller to cancel the takeoff clearance as a precaution. Preliminary review of the radar data showed however that there was no conflict even if the takeoff had continued. I landed right after this apparently happened, the FO and I looked at each other when they were stopped on the taxiway for suspected hot brakes. We both said ****? The tower told them to abort? This is going to be interesting-maybe a CQ SPOT.

Hearing of talk at the board level about Hawaiian. Still think this makes the most sense... not only for Hnd, but more so for hub to asia/australia. Small enough to get by DOJ, but I bet state of Hawaii would fight it tooth & nail.
