Current Endeavor guys aren't eligible, only future endeavor hires.

So I guess DAL doesn't care if they leave en masse for UAL/AAL/JBLU/SWA?

Interesting tack I must admit.

Here's the top reason they list for needing the flow up program:

EtD Commitment is expected to bolster Endeavor’s ability to attract career-minded pilots while positioning the airline for growth.

Delta wants to make sure Endeavor has the capability to grow. Are you guys sure it isn't worth some negotiating capital to continue shrinking the number of large RJs?

Face it, they still love the 70-76-90 seaters and will do whatever it takes to breathe life into the struggling regional model. I see this as a very creative way of helping ensure Endeavor is able to retain the staffing required to continue flying routes that Delta pilots should be flying.

Capability is one thing. Actually ability is another.

Not one red cent.

So was the DAL MEC fully engaged and involved in the process of coming up with this, or was it another instance, similar to the SSP, of excluding the lawful bargaining agent for Delta pilots and negotiating directly with another pilot group?

Since when did unions take over hiring at Delta. I think the program sucks but management decides who they hire and controls the seniority list. I doubt they will hand hiring over to DALPA.

Oh yeah, DALPA doesn't control who Delta hires, just as long as they are a card carrying member.

Come on sailing, none of this would be possible if Bendover wasn't ALPA.

Also, all these commitments with big D are null and void if we vote ALPA out at 9E

Well, unfortunately, dALPA doesn't do the hiring at Delta Air Lines.

I think the gentleman's approach with DALPA is only used when Mgt wants something the pilots have. We have no control over who they hire, so they have no real reason to engage the union.

The 1500 hour rule is obviously making it very hard for the regionals to hire pilots at below-bus-driver wages. This flow up will provide career incentive to these guys faced with taking on $100k in debt for a $20k/year job.

Maybe the Mgt opener for Contract 15 will include a sponsorship program. Each Delta pilot subsidizes one regional pilot with a $2k/month stipend. This would allow them to "attract career-minded pilots while positioning the airline for growth."

Do you think this new program will help stop or slow the bleeding though?
