you sure about that?

We have two duty day limits. One PWA and one FAR117

The PWA limit is derived from section D charts and appears on your rotation as: ACT/MAX. For example. 10:30/13

The max is PWA derived and is extended by 2 hours, no choice. So essentially just add 2 hours to that MAX number. It is there to protect us from sitting around unlimited to be deadheaded somewhere. It INCLUDES 30 min for post flight duties

The FAR117 limit appears on your rotation as: Not Ext/ext/max block. For example: 13/15/9

So you may call it quits at 13 hours report to block in FAR117. It DOES NOT INCLUDE 30 minute post flight. You are done operating the aircraft. However, the company may have you sit around longer to 15 hours, to deadhead somewhere. Both are extendable by up to 2 hours at your option. That is each individual pilot's choice.

We can do all this now.

DALPA, as pilots glance over their schedules just wanted to say thanks for the 30-day months and 7 shortcalls. July schedules are awesome.

What you need is a six pack of beer and some KY.

Tell you one thing. That Douglas version of the 737 (the MD37-88/90) barely gets off the last 2000 feet at SLC.

Last time I was in there I took a picture as the Captain reached VR.

No kidding, I look at the GPS at lift off to see if we've busted the tire limit of 225 (196KTS) some tires are good to 204kts. Boeing says:

The certified tire-speed-limit weight does not contain any margin for wind account*ability. For instance, the FAA-certified takeoff field-length-limit weight typically contains a conservative factor for wind accountability of 1.5 times the tailwind and 0.5 times the headwind. In comparison, the tire-speed-limit weight lacks any such conservative wind factor. Because of this, an unexpected tailwind component not accounted for in the takeoff analysis, occur*ring during a takeoff at or near the tire-speed-limit weight, may increase the true ground speed at liftoff beyond the tire speed rating.

To avoid a tire-speed-limit exceedance, Boeing recommends to conservatively account for the tailwind component when dispatching at or near the tire-speed-limit weight in a crosswind situation. General guidelines for crosswind takeoffs are out*lined in the FCTM. These guidelines include the recommendation to use a higher thrust setting than the minimum required in order to minimize airplane expo*sure to gusty conditions during rotation, liftoff, and initial climb.

What we need is the password to Ligero, whatever that is.

How do you feel about the 80-hour guarantee?

Dubious argument. Those reserves that desired to hit 80 hrs under the current staffing conditions would have little trouble doing it under the old rules. Old rules v new rules? Little difference this time of year other than 2 less days off this summer.

I like the system the rest of the year but don't pretend the guarantee makes it a good deal for the summer. It makes little difference that time of year from pay standpoint and we sacrificed guaranteed time off when we're all worn down for time off when most probably aren't looking for it as hard. The gain is pay in the low months. Not everyone's time off is for sale like many of our pilots.

Really? There are thousands of posts out there complaining about how a reserve works his/her butt off and never hits the guarantee.

I'm not supporting the 30 day thingy... but what you said simply isn't true.
