all but the top 25 pilots at Delta moved up one number today. Number 26 retired this morning when we landed in ATL, from Dubai. He's a great guy, I hate to see him go, but after 36 years, he said he was ready. I got him a book on fly fishing, he doesn't golf!
I was fortunate enough to be on his last trip, he threw a heck of a party in DXB and picked up the tab for all of us (nearly $1,000) The crew showed up for the party at Club 7, and his (31yr. old) son came along for the trip. Delta gave him PS passes, both ways, which was good because he'd be stuck in DXB for a week if not.

Half way home I sent a message to Disp. to remind them to get the fire trucks out, and they thought it was going to happen, but when we rolled into ATL at 05:45, no trucks. The CP who met us said they (ATL FD) didn't have the staffing at that hour, but they are doing it for arrivals later in the day, so you may see one sometime soon, now that the exit door is wide open.
The Chief Pilot and a DALPA guy was there too (a senior 777 Capt.), in uniform, to take picts, and present the pins, letters, and big pict, at 05:45!
Great job by the whole crew. Made me proud to work here, and sad, to see one of our finest hanging up his spurs.
I hope they are not paying those girls... My last trip xled. I went home. I have no idea who ate the cake. {DFW}Originally Posted by Timbo
