Yeah I said it. He absolutely was. Never seen anyone like him before or since and for the sake of the 88 pilots I hope he is long since gone... and he looked to be on the physical edge anyways.

As miserable as I was answering the max cracked window speed I really felt bad for that Captain, luckily he had studied pretty hard despite the fact it was the end of his time on the jet.

They are far and few between these days but there are still a few around. My last CQ with a DB was epic. He last flew the jet in 2001. I've been on it for almost 7 years. At one point, he started screaming at me. I wasn't even flying, just throwing switches and ****. I'll never see him again, hopefully.

Here's a link to a video of RA's speech before the Aero Club in DC.

The WSJ was hot-to-trot to report a scoop before RA's speech and they got the story wrong.

all in all it was interesting to hear his point of view on the ExIm . But I also did appreciate him putting certain blame where it belongs, calling a spade a spade, especially with respect to fair market competition and engine manufacturers/oem and their over inflation.

That's not the current policy. The training schedulers "actively manage" the training to reduce costs. If you're within a couple weeks of Initial Training, they'll drop your CQ. If you're not getting resolution, call ALPA Training Rep. He has a great relationship with Dir of Training. Bottom line is they don't want to pay $$$ of the CQ training needlessly.

I wasn't aware DGS guys could give checkrides.

Great find.... Anybody know how to embed this? Since it's not youtube, you can't do it the same way. (I tried).

They are still out there, DGS and active, put them in the survey to accomplish a change.

Never had a problem with a DGS or FO training guy. Had 2 line Captain LCA pull stuff out of thin air with "this is how I do it, so it must be right" procedures that had to be agreed with, or thou shall not pass implications. Fortunately both times my Captains took up the issue, so I let them discuss among themselves ... As an FO my only opinion is "no, I don't need to see that again" and "yeah, I'm good with going home early."
