Does anyone know if the hotel we stay at in Barcelona gives us a good vacation rate? It doesn't say on mycrewguide. Thanks!

I checked into this last month in July. Supposedly 70 euro/night if you call the front desk directly. I ended up finding a priceline room so we didn't stay there but it was my plan B.

Same as any other RSV bidding strategy.

1. Avoid weekends
2. Try to bunch the majority of your RSV days near the beginning of the month so you're on RSV when everyone else is in bucket 1. If you do it in reverse and have the majority of your days off early in the month, you will likely fly more as the other guys will have moved out of bucket 1
3. Strategically move your x days to hide yourself in a group of guys with the same days of availability grouping. Look at it 5-7 days ahead of time and see how it's lining up. If you're on an island as the only 2/3/4 day guy, you're probably going to work. Sometimes shifting your sked by a day will buy you a better chance of not getting a trip/SC

If you're on the 88 you can disregard the above, you will fly no matter what :D

If you are suggesting that the company might offer something and that some might take it( which I highly doubt will amount to any significant number) then we might be on the same page. As far as every man having a price, I agree, but I don't think the company will get anywhere near what it will take to get rid of any of the top players. They got it waaaaay too good to leave.

Mr. TSquare,

We are in agreement in that we as a pilot group should not fund any type of early out program. If there is such a deal, it has to come from the coffers of Delta Air Lines and not from our pilot group.

Where we disagree is the amount of takers of such a program. Especially if it resembles earlier PERPs.

I bid in the mid 20's on the 747 and everyone senior to me is age 60 or better. I myself just turned 60 this summer. All that I have talked to don't have the desire to transition to a 2 engine airframe. They have been flying 4 engine airplanes for most of their career and neither the Airbus 330 nor the B777 have any special calling.

Combine this lack of desire to fly 2 engine airplanes with a pilot's DB plan, their excess benefit plan plus the previously "early out"proposals, then I see a great deal of my peers jumping on this. Don't forget to add the matrix of the "new and improved" training style. Remember, most of us attended our last ground school taught by real people in a classroom environment and not by some thumb-drive thingy.

Personally, I myself would strongly consider such an early out proffer. I also hope the Association doesn't target this program to only 747 pilots. It must be offered to all on the property.

Fly safe,

OC

surprised satchip didn't comment on that by now.

You missed Tuscaloosa by several miles. I was wondering what you had against west Jefferson Co?

With all due respect, I don't think you are in any danger at this point. So my question is who would an early out program benefit? Besides, you've been here long enough to see how they work.. All the pomp and circumstance of movement and what not, and then it takes 3 years to get anybody off the top. It's a total waste of time for those that remain, and usually expensive to boot.

And I'm with ya. If my widebody choice gets narrowed down to an airplane that calls me names in the flare, I might beat feet too. (crowd goes wild)

You fly safe as well.

Move X days. What you talking about?

It says color coding has returned to the screen, but I must be color blind.

... and just in case anyone forgot ...
