I'm not the naive one here.
If the RJs had not been allowed to fly via scope than DC9 sized aircraft would have had to be ordered at some point. If we did not allow so many of our passengers to be flown on other airlines it would change the needs for what airplanes were ordered. The JVs are taking jobs on the high end and we allow it via scope. We need better language and we need to strongly enforce it. Carl |

this 747 retirment has become a funny game delta is playing with wall street. I skews the capacity numbers to keep wall street happy for this year. It shows capacity discipline, Wall street's 2 favorite words after non-union. They reduce capacity this year and increase it next year with more airframes. I am not sure how it exactly breaks out but they can find a measure like seats available and massage the numbers.
Another thing this allows delta to do is reduce the airline in the shoulder months to increase the flying/capacity only in the summer. They have done this in the last few years with there in-flight premuim cabin upgrades and heavy checks. |

But they can hold the 330 so there goes the down hill slide for everyone. The worst thing about this is that the highest paying job in the airline is going away just like the 757 going down to 737 pay. So how is that 85% Pacific flying give away working for us now??? Personally I'm pretty tired of the pro DALPA guys telling us how good things are. This really blows unless there is a follow on Wide body order coming soon. It will be huge stagnation again for a long time. It's a little frustrating seeing our code share partners flying the 787, 777 and 380s around and the company out of compliance. Where the hell is the UNION????
And the whole pay thing is... and has been quite obvious to me for a long long long time. Too bad nobody listens. If I were paid based on longevity, I wouldn't care if I were bumped. Now, I certainly will, and so will a whole lot of other guys. And there will be a follow on WB order coming, but it is beginning to look like a net wash career earnings wise. I think your stagnation statement is quite over the top though. We are gonna hire a bunch of guys in the coming years. SOMEBODY is going to be moving up, the newhires cannot all be going into the 717/88... |

Well, first of all, the union guys will say that we are not out of compliance... yet. But we will be. The question is how to make us whole without selling those jobs for money. I do not have a good answer for that.

Carl, Carl, Carl.... He would have never stooped so low as to work at NWA. He was way too qualified, educated and busy having lunch with former high level delta execs giving him inside information of Deltas plan of ch11 as early as 2001. Makes you wonder why he didn't short the hell out of delta back the. He'd be retired by now. Working for NWA would be like going to a non sked. Delta was the only airline worth leaving ASA for.

Why should we fix the company's training logjam?
The company held off hiring until it was too late. Now everyone on the list is feeling it. If RA wants relief, he needs to compensate everyone. Not just 747 captains with a pension. Denny |
