It basically is a very bad deal. Happened to me in Nov/Dec. Avoid it or swap trips.
Can't swap. I've tried all month. I'm a line holder and looking at bidding reserve due to a sweet Feb vacation 12 days(sarcasm). Reserve guarantee is 74.30 in Feb and trying to figure out if it goes above guarantee and worth bidding reserve. Seems I will have 7 days on call if I bid reserve. Just wondering pay. Thanks

Definitely not above guarantee, and wont reduce your number of reserve days- the days you are on the trip will count one for one against on call days. May allow a swap once Feb scheds come out. With vacation it could be a way to block yourself off from other trips and get paid more than what ALV would be. Still would work better if you could find a trip with no credit.

I may have spoken a bit overly harshly, I'm sure there are circumstances where it could be to your advantage- but pay to days worked in January probably will take a hit (caveat- I havent seen the actual rotation, so this could be over generalized).

You're not an ace until you get 5 of those with no assist. IOW, you can't have me get in the 4 point behind Timbo before you push him backward down the escalator. I'd get half credit for that.

The number I keep seeing thrown around is about 16% of your W2 total, (for pilots) minus the 5% we already got, so on Valentine's Day 2015, we should see about 10-11% as a PS payout.

10% is an easy number to figure, even for you mathematically challenged guys, and be sure you tip your hat to Uncle Sam by paying the AMT when you do your income taxes, this year and next.

What would be sweet is if we could put ALL of it, tax deferred, into our retirement funding, rather than paying 35% of it back to Uncle, but since the cap is so low, you WILL be paying for someone else's Obama Phone.
Sounds about right. I was in CQ a few weeks ago and was told that the 2/14/2015 payout will be approx double the amount of your Oct payout.

Thumbs down

Okay just spoke to ALPA. In simple terms the only benefit I get for bidding reserve with 14 hrs of carry in is the 14hrs goes towards reserve raw score. Total bummer. Contract fix maybe?

Default From today's all pilot memo, what's this mean

All pilot memo, 2015 a look ahead.

"Hire, upgrade and train pilots to support operational reliability as well as network and fleet growth—including the delivery of four A330-300 IGW aircraft and accelerated narrowbody deliveries"

Accelerated narrow body deliveries. What did I miss...

Thanks, kargo

I thought there was someplace to update icrew when my new license shows up with my type rating. I looked and was unable to find it. Does this exist, or do I have it flipped backwards and only need to let the company know if my new license doesn't show up within 120 days of issuing the temp certificate?
