1. No, seems correct 2. No, you are under no obligation to be immediately contactable when on LC. They'll leave a message notifying you of your trip or SC if they can't reach you. Many people don't answer the phone on LC, they just send it to VM and check iCrew. By the way, you can access DeltaNet (and thus icrew) via the inflight wifi for free. No special code needed, just navigate to DLnet and login.

(of course, now you'll be hitting refresh on your schedule all the way from NYC to ATL tomorrow, relax...)

tyvm for the quick reply. And yes, I am going to wear the refresh out. LOTS of flights between ATL and NYC but holy cow are there a lot of jump seaters and nonrevs. Hope I can get home :).

I have referenced the scheduling handbook and I've called scheduling but I'd appreciate it if guys more experienced sitting reserve could back me up.

Situation
I am currently on LC, tomorrow is an on-call day, as of now and I haven't been given a trip or SC, and on Tuesday I have jury duty on my schedule. When I spoke with scheduling I was told that if I am still on LC at noon the day prior to jury duty showing on my schedule, then I am free to commute home (assuming no SC or trip assigned). If I am assigned SC then I have to stay until the termination of the SC window; however, they can't assign me SC any later than noon Monday since they have to give me 12 hours notice (and practically speaking, not many 717 trips leave after 10pm, so if I'm not assigned SC prior to say 8am it is unlikely I'd be assigned it at all).

Plan
My plan is to take an early flight from NYC to ATL. If assigned a trip or SC while airborne I'll just turn around and fly back to NYC. If I haven't been assigned a trip or SC by noon, I plan to take a later flight from ATL to SAT.

Questions
1. Have I made any incorrect assumptions or broken any rules in my reasoning for how to get home tomorrow?
2. Since I will be on LC and unavailable via phone while commuting from NYC to ATL, do I have an obligation to call scheduling and let them know what I'm doing?

Thank you for your time.

I think you have it all correct.

And no, you don't have to tell scheduling what you are doing. You just have to check your schedule/voicemail when you land in ATL to make sure they didn't assign you anything while you were in the air.

FTB, we need a photoshop Leggo my Eggo with the Eggo as profit sharing!

While I do have a price for dumping profit sharing, I share your concerns about trading it in. The wage variability profit sharing provides might come in handy in down times.

However, with variable wages, a trip in front of a judge has shown that they don't take previously conceded (or flexed down wages) things into consideration.

Might also be a good time to point out that Profit Sharing is actually at-risk and variable. to claim otherwise is a noteworthy separation from reality.

Laying a little groundwork there Karnak?

I didn't really believe all the talk that DALPA was planning to give back profit sharing.

Until now.

Very transparent isn't it. Now with Harwood back in his old committee, the management/DALPA strategic planning committee is about planning how best to lay the political groundwork to cram down what has essentially already been decided. Strategic planning has moved to the phase where renaming contractual items is being used to diminish their value in the eyes of pilots. Profit Sharing is now "at-risk" and "variable" compensation.

Look for the management/DALPA strategic planning committee to do the same thing with other items that management wants back, as this committee's job is to strategically plan the pilot's voluntary relinquishing of items of which management sees great future value. It'll be easy to spot, since we've seen this movie before.

What Survey?

Last survey we did was prior to C2012....when fuel was at record highs, and earnings were only about $1Billion per year....

Wonder why we aren't seeing a NEW survey?

Yeah...that's why.
