The 320/MD 88/737 would go up to 757/767 rates. Which in the short view looks great, but the fact is (as the reps in ATL and SLC pointed out) it reduces staffing and costs jobs. So? Are we really getting more pay with pay banding? ALPA is more than capable of calculating the job loss. If the survey shows the pilots desire pay banding with offsetting productivity increases then we will probably agree. Both UAL and AA do this to a larger degree than we do. Their pay bands are listed on this website.[/QUOTE Did you not post that pay banding would cost us thousands of jobs just a few months ago? |

All pay is at risk, including bonuses, which is what profit sharing is.

Since the "shocker" is the official greeting of TL&G thread, i propose that all 717 pilots incorporate it into your normal callouts when cleared to final altitude. "330 with the shocker!"
As you can see you have two in the pink and the VSI (rather phallic) represents the one in the stink. |

So Carl and Jerry, why would the Dalpa insiders want to cut their pay and benefits? I keep asking and there is never an answer.
With these insiders having such a Big desire to cut pilot costs how did we go from second to last not that long ago to the top of the industry in total pilot costs in such a short time after Delta' return from the dead? Why does Richard go to all the MEC meetings? Because he loves us? It's bad enough he goes to MEC meetings, now he just went to a Special MEC meeting. Sailing I'm sure he attends to give our MEC good news and shares with them that he thinks we will make over $10 BILLION in 2016 when the hedges expire. He is not there to lower expectations and move us in a cost neutral direction. He is not there to plant the seed of self funding. And best of all? Randy and Buzz actually believe that. |

Sailing I have answered this many times before. Tim O., Hanson, RH, Buzz, Randy, Roger, Desi, etc. think they are junior execs. They will do anything for Richard as long as he tells them it's best for them. history is replete with examples of this.

All these cost neutral agreements have taken us from the bottom of the industry to the top in a relatively short time. They have doubled my pay on the same equipment. You would certainly think that if all these DALPA insiders who want to lower their own pay and working conditions were junior executives in hiding for the company that the company would long ago have fired them as they watched their pilot cost soar to the top of the industry! One last thing. As long as I have worked at Delta the leadership has spoken at some MEC meetings. They have never attended a meeting other then being allowed a block of time to address the MEC. RA has addressed the MEC at some meetings but certainly not the majority as you post. The last meeting was where both the company and Union get their marching orders from the NMB. I gather you are advocating that of the CEO asks for a block of time to address the pilot group we tell him to stuff it. Sounds like a smart thing to do! |

So a DOS raise of 18%+ an additional 20% raise for trading PS?... 38% DOS raise +4% ever year for 4 year contract
I would be ok with that along with improvements to vacation and ADG of 5:45 |

For all those with concerns over any of the issues being discussed here (or any other issues for that matter) you need to be having these conversations with your reps! Arguing back and forth here may be entertaining but you could also have meaningful influence on the process if you continue to engage your reps and the NC. The opening marching orders won't be given to the NC for another couple months, with openers in April. If you have an opinion, make it heard! FYI the ATL reps will be in the lounge this week. Stop by and talk with them if you are passing through. |

We've had a good run in the past few years, largely due to our efforts to make this merger work. But we can remember many years when we did our best and there were no profits - and no section 6 or bankruptcy. We can also see other pilots groups with chaotic mergers that are profitable - so maybe there are more factors at work than just great pilots.
Really? Wake up Rip Van Winkle. The economics of this industry changed more than half a decade again. I'll submit that how well pilots do their job is not much of a factor at all. We are professionals and will always perform at a high level. Profitability is largely a a direct response to unbundling fees., a practice picked up from he mobile phone industry. Skeptical? Then read this: Airlines Embrace Cost Unbundling - TIME Decoupling from PROFIT SHARING now, after years of watching this pricing model work, is not necessarily intelligent. With those years of profit, they have paid down debt, paid large dividends back to share holders, and are on the verge of investment grade ratings, all while INCREASING profit sharing pay outs. |

What will the profits be in 2017? We can make some reasonable assumptions, just like we make reasonable assumptions about the arrival weather in NRT. But I'm still carrying extra fuel. That's how I think. I think it would be stupid to get rid of Profit Sharing. I like the "share the gain" concept. But I'd prefer to have most of my total compensation in pay rates that require a section 6 negotiation or a trip to the courthouse to be changed - rather than just a "weak economy" or "bad decisions". You claimed previously that: "(Jerry had) seldom taken positions that match the overwhelming will of our pilot group? Might also be a good time to point out that Profit Sharing is actually at-risk and variable. to claim otherwise is a noteworthy separation from reality. Maybe you could focus your Internet energy on discussions of how we can make it less risky and with less downside variance?" Ill state it again. YOU tell US how you propose to make it "less risky and with less downside variance" Try again Karnak. You have failed to propose how to make it less risky with less downside risk. All you have done is expressed your own opinion as to having your total compensation in pay rates. How do you do that, and not sell back profit sharing? There is an answer actually. Do you see it yet? |
