That doesn't mean it won't work though. I've dropped reserve days and trips over holidays multiple times using the APD. Every other day the computer uses the formula for coverage levels to award APD's. On those holidays the schedulers determine when to award them.

I always thought they just didn't award any APD's if it would cause coverage to go negative, but two years ago I dropped reserve days over Christmas when coverage was even so I don't know when they deny APD's on those holidays. I would request it and see what happens. Best chance is the first PCS run because APD's are run before any swaps or drops so you will get an APD before a more senior guy gets a swap or drop.

Thanks, worth a shot.

Ok, what is up with wicked senior dudes camped out on the lowest paid AC in the fleet and cherry picking(WS) trips that would go out as GS to new hires? I don't get it, just go to a WB, bid reserve and never fly. I mean these folks could hold capt on most fleets. UGH!!!

It's called exercising your seniority rights and QOL considerations. Hang on, you'll be senior one day and understand.:)

I understand....it's just frustrating to watch this happen, over and over!

Look at the bright side. Someday you can bid jr CA while those guys are still camped out.
Your QOL will suck just as much but it will pay more 😜

I would have to bid jr CA because of the "FU I got mine, deadwood, WS mafia" ;)

Problem is I will be dead before I can bid ANY CA seat. Senior WB FO will be enough. :D

Sr WB FO is a pretty nice gig. All the good beer flavor without the calories. You could even camp out there and be senior and WS.....wait....what? 😝

It's called lower ALV and them wanting to max out before the holidays so that they can GS over the holiday for even more pay.

Oh and it's the last chance to cash in on a 30% PS bonus coming in FEB.

Why we don't have holiday pay is the real question. Right now, senior folk work it for GS pay, junior folk are forced into it as coverage. Seems to me that the union could easily show that if you paid a slight premium, you'd get people to actually bid for it and have way less GS coverage.

We do have holiday pay, but it's tiered. Tier 1: Senior pilots fly at 2x pay on a volunteer basis, and Tier 2: Junior pilots fly coverage trips for straight pay. You want to be in Tier 1.
