Airline Pilot Central Forums - Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?

Oh yeah! In fact awhile back we enhanced it so that if you have vacation starting in month A, spilling over into month B, you can slide just the portions in the current month. Knowing that, I bid vacation starting Nov 29, extending to Dec 5. Using vacation slide, I slid the two days in November to Wed/Thursday of Thanksgiving, and the following month I slid the days in December from Dec 23-27. How about that? A Thanksgiving and Christmas vacation, all for the price of a week that originally touched neither!

Most excellent. I never knew you can drastically slide the vacation from Dec 5th to Dec 23-27. Cool!

At some point prior to the flight (I think it is around 1 or 2 hours) they lock the seat availability in the app. You will see available seats but it won't let you change to them. Last time that happened to me I went to the gate agent and said that I saw seats available to swap, but the app wouldn't let me do it. She swapped it (to economy comfort) on the spot for me.

Imagine trying to work an oversold flight and assign seats to HK's and such with people changing seat assignments left and right. They'd never get the flight out.

Yes, restricted two days before and after major holiday (and super bowl sunday) it's all in the contract but there are like a dozen holidays listed...... and yes, Xmas is one of them.

I always thought they just didn't award any APD's if it would cause coverage to go negative, but two years ago I dropped reserve days over Christmas when coverage was even so I don't know when they deny APD's on those holidays. I would request it and see what happens. Best chance is the first PCS run because APD's are run before any swaps or drops so you will get an APD before a more senior guy gets a swap or drop.
