Timbo is right Mantooth. While it's true there is a global production balance based on ASM's, the minimum floor of that production balance is about 15-20% LESS than the ASM's we're currently flying. This leaves plenty of room to shrink into the minimum had we voted YES to your concessionary TA and gave up EASK's.

6) Flying with experienced senior airline pilots vs write a new hire critique every trip.

7) Why don't these European countries put ice in their cokes vs. OMFG we have to phucking deice a 5th time? What do you mean we just blew through holdover? Will this gallon of type 2 that just entered the cockpit double as creamer? And who thinks eyebrow windows are a good idea?

8) JFK once or twice a week vs La Guardia 2-3 times a day

9) Crash pad by the only airport you fly out of vs You want me at EWR in 2 hours?

10) Crew meals and breaks vs new flight attendants who don't know or jaded Florida FAs who don't care. There's somebody in front flying the plane? I had no idea. Have fun on your 30 minute turn getting something to eat or dropping a deuce.

11) Check rides on a normal schedule vs a checkride every month since the new guy you're flying with just hit 200 hours. Oh, it's not a check for you, unless you screw up of course...

12) Nice cushy seat vs hemorrhoids-are-us iron throne.

13) Spacious cockpit vs strap it on.

14) Layovers with an occasional hot FA vs Wow, my first layover with the FAs in 6 months. Oh wait, 3 dudes.

15) Rest break vs. plane is broke, contract maintenance might show up in 30 minutes, BTW we need you to catch up by leg 5.

Actually I was on the 727 for 18 months - 17 months in LAX. The difference then was that the Pilots would pretty much pick whatever power setting they wanted. Now everyone mostly just goes with the pre-selected derates.

As far as the takeoff rolls being long on the 727 I really don't remember much difference between then and now. Of course sitting sideways my view was not as good. :)

An FO I flew with was at the bar at the Nightflight in SVO. The captain was perched on a barstool with two young Russian girls with an a$$ cheek in each hand. And he said-"just think...there's a couple of Maddog guys at the Hooters in MOB bragging about how great the wings are". The guys who have flown SVO know all about the Nightflight bar and shall we say restaurant?
