The only time I answer the phone is if I'll take a short-notice GS (if the report is less than two hours out, skeds can call the next guy immediately without leaving it on your line for 10 minutes). Other than that scenario, there is zero upside to answering the phone when scheduling calls...and a lot of ways to get hosed.

I agree. Never answer the phone. Acknowledge online or call back if you have/want to.

Just so there's no question about 401k stuff...

Delta will put 15% into your account until you reach an income of $265,000, then ALL the Delta money comes to you as regular pay, TAXED! That's $39,750............

You are allowed to contribute up to the max of $53,000 using $18,000 of your own money but IF you max out the Delta $$ you cannot reach the $18,000 limit, UNLESS, you're over 50, when you can contribute an extra $6000 up to $59K....

All totaled, you can't max out the Delta money and the 18k and the 6k because it's too much! (IF you earn >265k)

If you don't care about "tax free" money, then put the $18k in from your PS check in February, and the Delta money will stop at $35,000, and you'll pay taxes on the $4,750.....

Just WOW! While you guys worry about hitting a 265k limit, regional FOs flying for your company qualify for food stamps. ALPA is disgusting.

Maybe you guys making 265K plus a year can buy that starving regional FO breakfast next time.

So what do you recommend - pay cuts at the majors to minimize the pay disparity? I guess you were not around 10 years ago when Regional pilots were giddy about their 1 year upgrades while thousands of major FOs were furloughed.

OBTW - You do realize all of these guys are over 50, many over 60, who had thier pensions terminated.

Finally, Do you think they were hired into WB CAPT positions?

Get over it.

or maybe that regional FO will get the time and get hired by the majors someday? We all started somewhere dude....and it wasn't at $265k. In fact, I've been flying for 33 years and I'm nowhere near that.

What's your point? Occupy Legacy?

Don't ***** us out, we can control that about as much as we can control you allowing xyz corp of the month for offering you below scab labor rates, and you taking it! If you want us to cut our pay to come down close to you to give you a warm and fuzzy then you should propose a resolution at the next ALPA BOD...They will probably take you up on it. Then you will make what we do(that is we will come down to your pay level and everybody will be the same) HAPPY NOW???

Yeah, I got the heads up on that. Does anyone know if our layover hotel gives us a deal?

When I stayed there with family last winter they offered 20% off rack rates or something like that. I was able to find better rates right off the Holiday Inn website.

Just so you know there are at least two hotels Dal uses now for layovers.

The Holiday Inn will give you 50% off food and booze with your ID for you and family even when there on pleasure.

I have yet to pay for a beer on the road as a DAL newhire. So when I am home, I take all the money I budgeted for beer on the road and buy beer for my friends still at my old regional. So in effect, all those $265K Captains buying me beer...are subsidizing beer for the regional guys. Trickle down economics if I ever seen it!

Is it me or does it seem like we have a lot of pilots passing away recently? It seems like every couple weeks, I read about an active pilot passing away.

My surgeon said we would all be better off retiring at 50...thinking he was correct.
