There's a way around the proration problem, too: roll over the full balance of the IRA into a 401(k), then roll the after-tax portion back out into a Roth IRA. That gets your before-tax balance into a tax-deferred account (i.e., no current taxes due), and zeroes out your IRA balance for future "back door" Roth contributions.

You guys sure do go to a lot of trouble "managing your portfolios" with all the machinations mentioned in the last few pages. It's going to be all for naught when the government confiscates your IRA/401Ks in a few years...

What carrier is DS in Travelnet? I'm trying to get home on an Endeavor flight and there are a couple DS guys less senior to me on the list. Will they travel S3 or S3B like me? Might make a difference between a nice commute home and enjoying a night in the DTW econolodge...

Check the Airport standby list and you'll see everyone's priority that's checked in. DS is below us so not to worry.

All the categories are confusing, if you are in doubt, click on any "HK" or "S" on the standby list. It will take you to the code page, easy peasy....

They are not checked in yet. I suppose I could search for another Endeavor flight somewhere in the system that has DS onboard and figure out their priority. Thanks for letting me know DS is below us though.

That only gives priority codes, not carrier codes.

I could be wrong- but DS is for Delta Global. And they ride at S3C.

Again- I could be wrong.

DGS is Delta Global Services and they have the same priority as Delta employees.

I think most DGS are S3C unless they are a manager, then they are S3 I think.

I'm mostly hoping that I don't fly a full month in OCT, as I have Vacation coming next month as well. Not too senior in my seat, if it's not obvious. I didn't complain about SEP, as I didnt have anything planned. OCT…different matter.

You should asked that this be checked. We should all enforce the contract. I took a quick look at the 330b's and there were only a couple that had 6 days of vacation and only one with two 6 day blocks. It was legal since the trips were of lower value then yours. Perhaps you switched categories. You can also check your reasons report.
On a side note it's important to understand the contract. I recently talked with a pilot who because he did not understand how to use PBS in a training month dealt himself over a 15% paycut for the entire year! That's a tough thing to swallow when a hour on the Internet or a few phone calls would have saved the day. There are resources on how to bid in almost every situation on the DALPA website.
