It’s kind of scary. They were adding flying after giving most of the M88 guys the option to bid the A320 in the displacement bid last year. Now they pull back the flying, almost across the board, substantially for July. I don’t know what’s going on but I’m concerned.

I'm guessing delays on deliveries

Except that the number of lines is decreasing, which means the amount of flying is decreasing. Unless the are getting rid of older 320s, it makes no sense.

Don’t forget flight ops recently adjusted the flight times on pretty much every flight, cutting out a lot of excess time. I was told this adjustment alone would cause the airline to have fewer block hours this year than last.

I think they've turned the optimizer loose. The NYC320 bid packs have turned into a wasteland of uncommutable trash populated by 2-3 legs on the beginning and ending days. Couple that with a decrease in the number of 30 hr layovers has meant a decrease in the ability to string 3,4 and 5 days together. I think their war on credit has shown in the last few months. That's fine....as long as there are no IROPs to ruin their house of cards.

Meh. I'm going min credit and enjoying the summer.

Or it means the ALV was increased which I suspect is what happened.

I don't think they are retiring the 88's nearly as fast as projected yet. When that changes, the 320 should show a huge increase in block hours.

Looks like for 320B’s there were 865 actual lines in Jun. They project 839 lines in July. The ALV was increased 6 hours or just over 7%. That would be a loss of 61 lines if system block hours were static or about 804 lines. It looks like block hours are up 3 or 4% not down for 320B’s from June to July. Sounds about What you would expect to see with new aircraft coming online. No black helicopters are hovering!
Edit: ALV increased was actually 5:45 not 6 but does not change the numbers much!
