You certainly need not be an abuser to use 160 hours of total family leave above and beyond your own sick leave events, especially when it is extended to in-laws. I'm starting to think the company's moves on sick leave could be prepping the field to handle potential expansion of family leave laws across the nation.

I've got class in a few weeks and am hoping some of you can share some insights pertaining to picking an aircraft. I've got a fairly high SSN, so my fingers are crossed that I might be able to pick from whatever is offered. I know that it's been all NYC for a while and probably will continue to be, but my goal is to get to DTW as quickly as I can, as I live 30 minutes from the airport.

So, which plane should I shoot for?

What would get me to DTW the quickest? Off of reserve the quickest?

Any guesses how long it might take to be awarded DTW? Have a line?

These questions mainly pertain to 737 vs. A320. There's a possibility that the 7ER would be offered, but I'm guessing I'd be dead last on the list for a very long time. The 717 is probably also a possibility, but I'd rather not continue to do regional type flying.
Thanks in advance for the advice!

Why? Do you anticipate less ER flying system wide or the flying to shift to other bases? Time will tell....

So hard to tell. I chose the 73N over the 7ER because there was little backfill on the DTW7ER, there were rumors of it downsizing, while the 73N was expanding. Looking back, I would have gotten to DTW just as quick and risen in seniority much fast on the ER than the 73N. However, a bunch of senior guys just jumped on the ER so that would have pushed me back down 6-9%. It's all a crapshoot.

The 73N has great trips, and spends a lot of time flying on the west coast. The downside is the cockpit is noisy, small and uncomfortable. We also have lots of redeyes, to include redeyes followed by a DH home, which are terrible. Overall, it seems like the trips on 73N are better than the 320, however...

If I were starting now, I would go for the 320.
-We're bringing a bunch of 321s online soon
-Very few redeyes
-Comfortable cockpit (WAY better than the 73N)
-Shorter transition to the 330 (less time spent on Virginia Ave)

It's time we talked about something really important here:

FOOTBALL!

How about them Patsies?!! Tom Brady is so good, he can will the Pats to win, even with a 3rd string rookie at QB!

And... could Tennessee suck any more?

5 dropped passes and an interception?

The Noles finally looked like the Noles.

And Pats fans thought mobile QBs were a unicorn! What a game--Zero to Hero in 4 days.

Noles vs USF, I hope they look better. They will lose to the U and Clemson, maybe the Gators
Vols are not a top 25 team. I do hope they beat the Tide at home.

It'll be interesting to see who they start next week, the rookie with the hurt thumb, or the guy with the hurt shoulder.

Or....maybe Edelman will get to start at QB!:D

Johnny Football would be fun to watch with the Pats. Maybe Brady could help him grow up

Yeahbut....it would be pretty hard for him to run around in the pocket with one of Bellicheck's shoes hanging out of his ass!

I don't know what their coach told them at half time, but Tennessee has scored 38 unanswered points to lead Florida 38-21!

Could Florida suck any more??
