Got two checks from DAL last week - one description said "settlement" & the other said "uplift". I retired in 2013. Can anybody tell me what these are for?

The one labeled settlement is almost certainly the JV scope settlement. The up lift one was just to brighten your day.

I have a two part 30 in 168 FAR 117 rest question.

1. When I block in on the last leg of a trip, does my rest begin immediately or does it begin at some point (30 minutes?) after block-in?

2. If my original schedule had adequate rest but due to delays I will violate the 30 in 168 rule, will scheduling figure this out on their own or do I need to call in?

Thanks

1. It's release time based on your actual block-in.
2. Once the door opens and you block-in on the leg leading into the 30 you should get a schedule change phone call. Have you already started your 30?

Overspeed, thanks for your reply.

Not sure if I'm saying the same thing as you, but I decided to call DALPA to double check and see how DAL would handle this. According to scheduling at DALPA, DAL adds 30 minutes to my block-in for "debrief" before they consider me on rest. This is good since I blocked in from a 4-day trip 30 hours and 27 minutes prior to a 5 day trip (thanks for the 15 minutes sitting at the gate with no marshallers JFK!). With the extra 30 minutes I now only have 29:57 rest going into my 5 day trip, so on day 3 I turn into a pumpkin.

Now, what DAL will do with me over the holiday weekend is beyond my guess. I have the sneaking suspicion that this won't turn out to be the awesome deal I momentarily thought I might get. The schedule works perfectly to let me just catch up on day 2 which means instead of per diem and a hotel on day 1 I will get a no-expenses bonus day in my crash pad :).

Seniority 10XX. He was scheduled to retire in 2025. Hired young. Sad anyone would use his death to try and make a political point.

I used priceline negotiator last minute because I would get decent hotels for $50. But if you don't want to take the risk and wait till the last minute that might not be the best option. Would frequently get crowne plaza or sheraton for $50.
