When I was a 727B instructor in 96-98, we were paid 85 hours up to L15B Domestic. I worked many months with 110 hours pay doing back to back seat fillers for practice rating rides and rating rides for 727C's doing new hire training. I actually took a pay cut going back to the line as a 727A in November 1998. Easiest job I ever had with all holidays off. The CPO's, I believe are paid 105 hours pay up to 765A pay if they can hold it. Plus an additional $1000 override. I have no complaints on the compensation of ALPA officers. It's thankless work.

Nice post. Break out the strike talk like the DPA mega-posters want and people are numb to it by the time we really need to talk about it.

I'll tell you who would not be "numb." Investors.

Why wouldn't "our" "union" utilize every possible avenue to create leverage for our position? We saw what happens when Dalpa plays nice: 4833 plus numerous concessions. Why does Donatelli allow RA to control every aspect of negotiations?

I can see both sides of the proactive engagement/be prepared to strike argument. I am also patient. So, we just need to be prepared to drop the thermonuclear be prepared to strike memo directly to CNN the day after the openers. Maybe a little posturing would be to make sure the CO knows we are planning for alternatives such as self help now and the use of mainstream media. You are right though, it's time to change the paradigm. Now is not the time to accept another 2012 repeat.

Amen.

Btw, we were going to go see the movie at 930 last night. Left at 830 but my buddy smartly calls the theatre and finds out its already sold out. So we go to the 1000 somewhere else. We bought tickets early and showed back up at 930. Place was already half full. By 940 everyone was there.

When the movie was over you could have heard a pin drop in a full theatre.

Wall Street and the investors care far more about Delta's pilot costs relative to the competition then about any threat to strike that is 4 or 5 years away at best.
