Just a caveat, however. If you are of the left of center political persuasion, you won't have as much fun reading them as I had writing them. Be forewarned.

Another question:

When do we bid for vacation? (June-June.)

It comes in four waves, primary, secondary, tertiary, and whatever the word is for #4. They'll publish the available weeks for the first bid, I think, in January. Some of the other guys will know for sure. Then you'll bid that round. Then a month or so later, they'll do the next round, etc, etc. You can do vacation moves after you've received your vacation bids. I think that's how it works. I just react to the messages on I Crew.

Read your first one and very much enjoyed it.

The Alska JV is a wholesale giveaway of scope.
It's completely different from the Airfrance or even the Virgin Australia JV.

How many people do you really think buy a ticket on Alaska Air to fly to Tokyo or Sydney?

What if we signed off on this:
"DAL doesn't want to dilute the market and JetBlue will cover North/South routes from JFK" how would that fly?

The worst part is our own union signed off on this Alaska JV.

Cheers

Great point george! One I have never thought about.....But that's a great question you ask. How come it's okay for Alaska to provide our west coast feed, yet on the east coast we go head to head with arguably a lot more airlines doing the exact same route? I dont understand it and never will. Can anyone provide a good answer to this.
And maybe I'm naive, but I dont buy the whole "there is a lot more market share on the east coast"......I say BS. You cant tell me there is not a market on the west coast.
I know it's anyone's guess but is this Delta's way of slowly letting go of the west coast? If it is, it is a horrible mistake in my opinion.
