Guys,
The only reason some of our pilots are getting multiple Green-slips is because the company made a conscious decision to delay hiring a while back. The short term goal of producing a quarterly profit outweighed properly manning the airline.
We are now hiring as fast as we can in order to properly man the airline. We all benefit by this increased hiring. Except the 747/777As (Sorry Timbo and Carl
).
Is anyone suggesting that we make it easier and less costly for the company to run an undermanned operation?

The new FAR 117 (100 block hours in rolling 28 days) has made it so that about the only way an International guy in a category with high time trips can get one is by bidding reserve and flying on your X days, which is what the guy on his second greenie (above) was doing.
But the loss of 16 747's is certainly going to hurt all of us, me, Carl, and everyone, all the way down the list.

The more choice the better. Inefficiencies in the system that produce what some see as a good deal leads to more choice. When you seek out and mitigate those inefficiencies (in which a pilot that chooses to trade seniority for either more money or quality of life as a senior first officer) you motivate an otherwise happy f/o to upgrade to captain denying a junior pilot that wanted the captain seat. The result is less happy senior first officers, less happy junior captains and more happy management.
Don't let envy lead us to a place where we are all limited to the same lifestyle.

What the heck would cause that? Doesn't look like it went out that late or anything.

Guys,
Just received this via company E-mail (Mentor Program). Lets help out a fellow DAL family in need.
Scoop
One of our fellow Delta pilots, Todd Perry, was diagnosed with ALS in August 2014. Unfortunately, his condition is advancing rapidly. He is restricted to a wheel chair, requires a feeding tube, and can no longer speak. Todd is a MSP 320 F/O, who has two children, ages 10 and 13. His wife, Karyn, is a schoolteacher.
Last week I was approached by a pilot and made aware of Todd’s situation. With the help of the Delta Care Fund, Andy Hummel and I we were able to grant the Perry family financial assistance. Additionally, with the help off Todd’s sister Sandy, we have created a Go Fund Me website. Our goal is to alleviate some of the burden from the family so they may spend more time with him.
Currently Todd is at home, with hospice care. He has made it clear that Delta was his second home and greatly misses being able to come to work. We are hoping, as a Delta family, to assist Todd’s family during this immensely difficult time.
If you can make a donation of any sort, please visit the go fund me site at:
Todd Perry -Smiles for Todd - ALS by Todd Perry Benefit - GoFundMe
Todd’s sister has also created a site where they are selling t-shirts with Todd’s smile. All proceeds will help the Perry Family. If you purchase a t-shirt, please take the shirt with you on a trip, and take a picture in it so we can send it to Todd.
The "SMILE" Logo is his legacy signature. Todd added this smile at the end of every signature. Let’s help Todd get his "SMILE'S" everywhere!

I challenge everyone to donate 1Hr of flight pay if you can. If just 10% of our pilot group did this it would help his family greatly.

Do the pilots have the ability to donate vacation time? Like we did at a previous carrier.
Forgive me if I'm mistaken, but aren't the 747s going to be replaced for the 350/330 on a higher than 1 for 1 basis? Looking at our chart looks like we have widebody fleet growth over the next few years simultaneously with high attrition
