I used it for the wife to fly to Belize. Every time she check in they asked her if she was flying standby. Her checked bag had a stand by tag on it when she pick it up. I will not use it again.

Your observation was that ALPA hasn't told us how Delta measures sick leave. You offered 3 ways to do it. On the previous page of this thread I listed 5, and the way my reps told us it was being measured. A chief pilot confirmed it. I have no clue how we stack up with other airlines, and I don't care. Our contract and work rules are different than their's.

The burden is on Delta to prove our variance.

It isn't really ALPA's job to communicate to us how the company tracks our sick leave usage. Besides, it could change. What they did do, however, is approve the method by which our sick leave is verified, and allow for a burden of proof to be put on the pilot. That, in my mind, was a concession. It was one major reason I voted against C2012. And I don't use a lot of sick leave.

A lot of people said it was not going to be an issue. Well, apparently it is. And it's getting more so. I think a more productive question to ask is; what is the union going to do about this in the next agreement? I suppose that depends on a few things, namely, our input, the company's desires, and the negotiators ability to get something done about it. If you didn't fill out the survey or you don't let your reps know how you feel about filling out doctor's forms, then don't complain.

I do think we should transition to a paid sick leave bank that we control. I know people think that other guys will show up sick. Well, I have two things to say about that. One, if I'm sick, I sure as heck don't want to be at work. And two, if I show up to work, and somebody else is obviously sick, I'm giving them the option to call in sick, or I'm going to do it for them via the CP. Every other major has this arrangement. I'll bet there are more guys flying sick because of the new harassment program than there would be if we had a normal sick leave bank.

If we do go to a bank type system, will the former NWA members have a valid grievance since a number of them had quite large banks before the merger and lost a fair amount of it.

2 things before night, night.

1. Awesome job on donations for Todd. Over $43000 now. Way to go!
2. Just realized there are some regulars gone AWOL. Tsquare and Bucking Bar have been absent lately. Hopefully they're OK.

Agreed! What an incredible show of support!

Tsquare, like johnso, felt the whole forum thing was negatively affecting them as they couldn't be here without getting very upset.

BB is heavily involved with.. um... work. He's being assimilated as we speak.

If it was up your a$$ wrapped in concertina wire, you'd know exactly where it was.

Said nobody in particular. I couldn't resist.

Anyway, I have been inspired by underboob. So I guess it's fitting that I should be equally inspired by the word ass-imilate. However, since we are all about learning new words how's about the word of the day is: steatopygia

I'll leave it to the less technologically challenged to take care of the photo sharing.
