Yeabut...you're not going to find that out when he's working the radios. And I don't think I'd ever say, "Fly it how you want", that is opening Pandora's Box for sure!

"I just do it the way Delta wants it done..." I think is a better opener and leaves less wiggle room for him to get creative.

I use Ally. I hesitated due to no local branch or any branches for that matter. Easiest bank I've ever dealt with. Deposit checks with your smartphone. Website is awesome and easy. Always answer the phone if you call. Pay about 10 times more interest than most banks on your savings. Beats the heck out of the fee charging banks that have horrible service. I kept a non fee savings account at my local bank so I can deposit cash and send it to Ally electronically or use the ATM, which I never do now days anyways.

Fly however you want was more of a I'm not going to tell you how to fly it. I hear it even today, if you don't tell me how to fly I won't tell you how to fly. Basically a "it's only technique (but you better do it my way)" free environment.

The problem was the guy was very different from the normal new guy, most all were very good, so I got surprised with this one.

Even with him being a PM on one leg some red flags would've gone up to say watch this guy. So that's why I bought into let the Captain, especially with new hires, do leg 1 of the 12-18 hub and spoke legs and just set a tone and get a feel. If a guy asked I would let them do it, but otherwise the normal was Captain first.

I also prefer that as an FO even now because I get a feel for how the Captain does things. Helps me be a better chameleon.

Your way I like too and appreciate.... when every pilot is more of a guaranteed quality.

You haven't flown a 900. We've already had a couple of tail strikes. I just don't want to be on the list and I don't want to be responsible for someone else being on the list, either.

Now, get off my lawn.
We had the same issues when we first got the 767-300's vs. the -200's. Only it was usually on landing when the auto spoilers popped up, the nose would pop up too, you had to be ready for it and be pushing forward or you might scrape the tail skid.

We just briefed it, "Remember, this is a 300, not a 200, so don't flare too much or the spoilers are going to get you!" I hear the same thing on the jumpseat of the 757-300 on almost every leg. They really land that thing flat...and hard, usually. I know it's a pig, or so I'm told, I never flew it.

I rode on the jumpseat of a brand new 737-900 last month (still had that new car smell!), the Capt. just said to the F/O, "Remember, this is a 900, so rotate slowly."

I heard CAL has scrapped the tail on every one of their 737-900's. Seems Boeing should have put a little roller blade wheel on that tail skid! Or maybe just remove the nose wheel and make it into a Tail Dragger!

I do walkarounds when it's the FO's leg. Am I "that guy"?

Yes. Because you're taking the FOs fresh air time.

fwiw I don't mind doing every walk around. On 35 min turns it's your only moment to stretch. And it's a small plane. Doesn't take that long Even though I've been to known to drag it out. I guess I'm that guy... hoarding walk arounds.

They should have just kept making 757's.

Idk, if they make a tail dragger version of the 739 then I'm bidding over.

They could finally make bigger engines for it too.

No doubt. When I first got into the 757 I figured it would replace both the 727 and 737.

If in 1989 you had told me that by 2015 Boeing would still be stretching and selling 737's, but the 757 line would be shut down, I wouldn't have believed you.

It's like watching a horror movie!

737, WHY WON'T YOU DIE!!??

Public Service Announcement

For those who haven't gone through the upgrade yet and use Quicken, as part of the process you have to change your user name and password [don't ask me]. DO NOT change your user name and password in Quicken. The system Quicken uses to access your accounts and Online Banking are separate. The upgrade is not simultaneous. I'm not sure if this is actually classified since THE $#*&ING CREDIT UNION DOESN'T BOTHER TO TELL ANYONE

I've spent far too much time un$#*&ing things since this upgrade. The last time I called, the rep couldn't even find my accounts until going for help . I'm done. I just opened accounts with a hometown credit union.
Not to pile on, but I will anyway....

You do realize that you now have a choice of TWO credit unions, plus whatever CUs you may have locally, right?

I've belonged to the "other" CU for going on 17 years, and their service has been nothing but exemplary.
