Thanks for the info on traveling w/ kids in the back. I think this will work.

Next question - What's the rule on non-reving AND booking the jumpseat. It's one or the other correct? Can you list for both and then decide at time of checkin which one you're going to take?

Thanks - Baja.

Beat me to it. Most things that are trying to scam the system are not allowed.

I received a phone call from the chief pilot telling me that Atlanta heard me and I should stop writing. To Atlanta I ended up highlighting my self more than the problem. I tried to explain how this was a 737 problem as Southwest and American have a solution to this problem. The solution that we are banned from using.

I then called the 737 Fleet Manager and spoke with him. He stated that they had just finished a noise study and it was inclusive. He was disappointed but was continuing to fight this problem. He told me that if nothing changed in the next few months I should write another FCR. But not on every flight.

If we don't complain and write it up it's not going to get fixed.

Thank you very much for doing this. I have sent in FCRs about this before as well. The noise level is completely unexceptable. Most guys I fly with have been on the airplane 10+ years and the amount of hearing loss they have is staggering. Pretty sad when there are simple fixes to prevent this.

At Alaska they used the rubber band method for a few years. Mngt then changed the audio panels to one that had a locking 'mic' switch. I don't know why we can't get our new jets to have the locking mic switch. Run that up the Chain of Command and see what they say.

Baja.

Curious as to the DB level.

Well it looks like Microsoft announced a new tablet today. It is the Surface 3.. and it has full windows 8.1 on it, no RT.

I hear Dell and Samsung also want to bid for the tablet contract.

What happens when we get a new tablet as far as "validation?"

Are they going to put paper pubs back in every airplane? Will we need to carry two tablets?

Another issue we wouldn't have with an iPad.

Purple, while I agree with your wanting an iPad, do you realize that Microsoft is our biggest corporate client? They are buying millions of dollars worth of tickets on Delta. They are the reason we are growing in SEA. As long as that is the case, we will never have a tablet that doesn't say Microsoft on it.

Better get used to it.

After only 6 months, I've almost figured out how to use my tablet! As soon as I do figure it out, I'm sure they will give us the next version and I'll have to learn it all over again!

Yep, and I actually don't mind the MS tablet!

I like the Surface better than an ipad.
