Seriously, what is it with the ties??

I must've missed that one.

What about this one: After the MEC finalized the opener in printed form, Richard Anderson and Michael Campbell (yes, that Michael Campbell) were briefed by the MEC...in closed session.

Did they arrive at the "closed session" via limo, or black helicopter?...and what kind of ties were they wearing?

So does this mean we have a contract?

I honestly don't see any problem with this.

Thanks, and sorry you had to suffer a stupid attack from the playground bully. He's on my ignore list with the likes of Snarge, good company he keeps. Of course I had to see him quoted 5 times so I usually see his shenanigans anyway.

I've called ALPA a few times and have found them to be an excellent resource. I haven't been around long enough to have experienced contract negotiations (which obviously is the most important part of the union) so I just stay out of the way of all those discussions and the ALPA love/hate that entails, but as far as helping out new guys with contract, scheduling, and PBS questions I have been mostly impressed with their act.

Somebody else mentioned my mentor. Some are good, some try really hard but don't quite get the job done. I've found this forum to be far more effective than my mentor, to the point where I just don't use him anymore. Nice guy and doing a lot of extra work on his own time, but hasn't been able to answer most of my questions in a correct or timely manner. In addition, I have received a LOT of feedback from some of the lurkers in the forum that they had similar questions but didn't ask or didn't even realize they had a question but learned from the answers to my questions. While I'm not some crusader out trying to selflessly do good for others, I do believe there is value in shared knowledge in an open forum vice a closed message between a mentor and new hire.

To bad about your mentor. I came from a previous ALPA carrier (15yrs) so a lot of the airline life stuff was familiar. However, when it came to DAL stuff, or training, the airplane, CQ.... PBS, my mentor kicked ass. Almost always answered a email/txt within hours, and called often, but not at an annoying rate.

Keep asking questions. There are probably a hundred lurkers who have the same questions.

Anyone know how the "Legacy" system works at Delta? I have an Uncle who was a 747 Capt. at Northwest. I know it might be a stretch, but does anyone know if this qualifies?

I don't know. The MEC update didn't say. Here it is for your review:

MEC Chairman Mike Donatelli reconvened the MEC at 0900 on 18 March, and the MEC again went into closed or executive session for the remainder of the day.

During this time, the MEC completed the Section 6 opener. After the opener was finalized, Delta’s senior executives, including CEO Richard Anderson, SVP Flight Ops Captain Steve Dickson, Managing Director of Labor Relations Brendan Brannon, and retired Executive Vice President of Human Resources (currently advisor for these negotiations), Mike Campbell addressed the MEC in both closed and executive session.

The MEC recessed at 1745.
