It's not the crayon signatures that were the problem. It was that half of the signatures were just an "X" on the line.

Interesting retort, but yes I did talk with a crewmember involved. It all started when I offered him (the jumpseater) my overhead speaker for the flight and he asked for a headset. I was curious why he wanted one and that set off the story of him being violated. I knew him before he showed up for the jumpseat, so I have no reason not to believe him. I don't know the fed involved and I don't know what the final outcome of the violation was. Just putting out some information so it doesn't happen to the next guy.

I'll second that that's a crap violation for a multitude of reasons unless he was actively distracting the crew.

I wonder if the solution to this is not for the PS pilot to have a discussion with the Captain? It's his JS. If a PS pilot on the way in, mentioned to the Captain that they can sit there instead, then the Captain can try to make it work if they are so inclined, and they have a better shot at getting cooperation from the agent.
Sink, I love ya man, but I got denied a J/S I had reserved when a DH pilot showed nup and took it before I showed at the gate to get a REVENUE pax on. The agent told me it was her JS, until I called Crew Scheduling and had her set straight by a scheduling supervisor.

Now that is utter crap.

I've only done it once- I walked up to the gate house and made sure there were no jumpseaters, and then verified the captain was aware of the situation was ok with it

Default MSP Recommendations

Guys,

Thanks for all the input. Specifically thanks to:

Buzz, Scambo, Jetnfast (great knocking back a few with you ), Unusual Attitude, Pb4ufly, and qball.

Still working the logistics on the MSP trip so any additional input would be greatly appreciated.

Something about SWA getting a 24% bump... So probably slightly more than 4833. No further details

Anyone else hearing this?

LOL! I wish! I think you're probably referring to this:

Our dear leader taking care of himself. The pilots....not so much.

I get it, dalad. I'm not trying to promote this is as routine. This discussion has highlighted the pitfalls of giving up the PS seat. Your example, and other examples, show that there are still too many egregious errors committed by gate agents.

I was mostly thinking along the lines of an exception such as this:
