It won't help any one remaining here, because the 747 jobs are going away along with the pilots.

Net movement for you up the pay scale = zero.

BUT...it will keep those guys from displacing down on top of you, if they retire, vs. stay.

Well, that's my point. They offer the buyout, and guys on other equipment take it, and get asked to 'stick around' because they are LCA's or they are just short of captains in that category. OR the 747's 'stick around' longer than planned. How many times did that happen with the DC9? It does affect everyone because they didn't staff for that position with a non-buyout pilot, at least until they guy leaves. I'm just saying, if there's a buyout, then there needs to be a 'drop dead' date after which you're out the door. There are people who took the last buyout who are still here, flying trips.

I fully agree, I was here (DL South) for the Post Retirement Pilot debacle of 2004-5, so I've already been there, done that!

Backdoor B's are out.
WS question for end of month: my NOTIONAL BACKDOOR sched has a trip in early May. If I put in a WS for a carryout trip in Apr right now, it WILL conflict with the May trip--which is good; I can select "yes even if it conflicts with next month", and I should get the Apr trip and it should auto DROP the May trip right?

Question-- since scheds haven't been loaded into DBMS as "firm", is there a risk they will re-run May after I do this and I'll just get assigned a different trip? Or are these backdoor scheds essentially done, and this move will result in me dumping first trip in May?
Thx

Haven't seen in print the so-called additional 11 717's either....anyone?

Baja.

That's because the 11 new 717's and the 5 new 757's will be tied to the PWA and it being completed early.

Man, you Delta guys must have the most complicated scheduling system in the industry. I don't think half those words are English and the ones that are seem woefully out of context. Trying to decide if a degree in rocket science or black magic and voodoo studies is more useful to sort it out!

Saw a LCA meeting handouts in the OC last week and read 5 more 717 + 5 more of the latest 757 built added to the fleet

Best to call the hotel but be sure to tell them you are a crewmember. Some hotels have "crew only" washers and dryers available.

Man, another step backwards in hotels. The Chicago downtown layover went from a Hilton to Holiday Inn with a far inferior location. ugh.
