It's called a negotiating committee, not negotiating MEC. The NC members must be empowered to make decisions within the bounds of the direction they are given. If at any point they cannot accomplish that OR feel the need to recalibrate their vector they will report back to the MEC as a body (they don't answer to individual reps, which is an important distinction to make) for clarification/direction.

If your rep has a problem I hope he does something productive about it like speaking with the admin and seeking support from the other reps to make any necessary changes...NOT sowing discontent among the membership because business isn't being conducted according to his individual liking.

Its true. Heard the exact same thing from my Rep.

Can you swap for a qualified trip off the open board if it has the necessary reserve coverage?

No, Q trips are for pick up only.

Think of it this way, the owner of a Q trip is trying to dump it, probably he doesn't want to be flying on that day, so unless he's also put it on the Pilot to Plot Swap Board, he doesn't want your trip, he wants to get rid of his.

If nobody picks it up, he's got to fly it.

He may be a newbie and not aware of the p2p swap board, so you might call him and ask if he wants to swap for your trip, or put yours on as a Q drop, maybe someone will pick yours up and then you can take his.

There are the types who think cleared for a visual means you are good to descend to gs intercept altitude 20 miles out, on a base turn, in the dark. Just an automatic when you hear cleared for the visual.

If the Q trip operates on different days than your original trip, you can swap for it as long as there is necessary reserve coverage for every day of your original trip. If any of the days on your original trip don't have the required reserves, they you won't be able to do it. In effect, you are dropping your trip into open time, so there must be reserves available to cover the trip you are dropping. If the reserves available are close on the days of your original trip, it is worth putting in the PCS request, sometimes the reserve numbers will fluctuate and your trip will drop/swap.

Maybe it was that.
But I'm betting VNAV was involved somehow. She's a fickle mistress.

I'm tired of hearing what Wall Street thinks or what Wall Street cares about. What I care about (not that Wall Street cares either) is what we've all given up and/or had taken from us over the last 12 years. We haven't gotten back to where we were, so as long as our company and our industry are doing so well, until we get back to the way things were (adjusted for inflation, of course), I can't understand why we would even consider incremental pay raises while trading QOL stuff away.

So about 27 years ago, I'm a brand new 727 F/O. We are flying into CLE. I've never been into Cleveland, but it's daylight, clear, and about 20 miles out ATC says, "Got the runway?". Cap.t reply's., "Yup".

I don't see it yet, and I've got no 'landmarks' so I start down..... and down... and I got to about 2000' and figured I'd better wait until I see it before I go any lower.

I look at the Capt. and ask, "You've been here before right, you've seen it, right?".

He said, "Not from THIS angle...".

The Engineer busts up laughing, the Capt. lost composure... and I yelled,

"Well where the FK is it!??".

He points and says, "Over THERE!".

I was too low, too far out, which is why I couldn't see it. But I still laugh when I think about it today.

"Not from this angle".

Classic. :D

He was a great guy to fly with too. I miss him.
