Exactly.

Only every other airline on the planet can make money flying 777's, but not Delta.

I used to be like that...absolutely miserable for 3 months every year, until I got a prescription for Flonase. Literally changed my life. The key is you have to use it everyday this time of year, not just when you have symptoms.

I'm going to look into that. It's awful. I'm not sick, but I sure sound like it, or like I was at a football game that went into 6 overtimes. Not one bit of congestion even when flying.

Also kills the notion that UAL has too many 777s to be profitable.

Of course the 773 is evidently, given the order book, pure accounting awesomeness.

I'm now good for visual approaches.

Now I wonder what caused that common sense bulletin to come up?

FTB,

Rinse your nose with Neilmed Squeeze bottle and two packets of Neilmed saline. DO it daily. After 2 weeks, if you are not better, supplement with Flonase.

The nose rinse works like a charm. I have not gotten allergies in a few years.

Our execs are up over 700% and counting since chapter 11. As our stock rises they make millions and millions more, but it is not enough. They need to further gut our profession. They need to eliminate the few good items we have left after the rape.

Sick leave, profit sharing, training and more . Unbelievable.

Yep - and there are many reasons for increased usage of SLOA. FOr one - they track "days lost" vs trip days now so their #s are higher. We were flying higher ALVs and we are an older pilot force.

My wife and I discussed this last night (She is a former HR person). The Co wants to reduce costs but if you are sick you are sick. So how do they reduce "waste and abuse?" BAnk system? Yeah..how would we implement that? I am sure the NWS guys who lost hundreds or thousands in the merger would be happy to start over with a new bank system - not. So do we get 60 hours? Or do they prorate based upon years seniority? Or do they waste numerous man hours computing some formula based upon past SLOA to come up with a bank #? THose all suck in my book.

Reduce the unverified to 75 or 80 hours. That reduces 25% of your "abuse" - translate that into $ and move on.

Sorry, I might have missed it. Can you explain again why we'd reduce our unverified sick leave? Thanks.

?????

Or how about it just stays the same and they can use a couple bills from the 6 BILLION they will make this year to cover their costs of working us so hard we are getting sick more often?

Delta is also the only airline on the planet that can't make money on Cargo either

Agreed.

Without a massive quid (not even sure what that would be) why would we even consider that? Every chance I get (survey, reps, LEC meetings, etc) my input is it ain't broke so don't fix it.

Fwiw I finally had to verify a couple weeks ago, and they denied one of my verifications because the prescription (for a downing med) wasn't good enough. I could spend more of my time and call the Dr to get a copy of x-Rays, etc but it's not worth my time, as long as I don't get sick again before June 1.

It's gonna have to be something exceptional to make me want to loosen up our sick program, which is currently the gold standard IMO. How many $B's did we make again last year?

Compromise: ok, fine. It's negotiations so I get it.

Concessions: no thanks, I'm willing to enjoy our current PWA

All that said, I'm pleased with the effort DALPA is putting into this. The whole "ability to say yes" frenzy some guys are freaking about is completely taken out of context. He was addressing the reps, and telling them to act in a rational, business-like manner. I did not take it as him telling me I have to vote yes.

I feel better now. Purple can still call me a "usual suspect" or "apologist" :D

But can any other airline on the planet make money with other airlines 777's? Delta has that figured out.
