F/A Recommendation.

The daughter of a long-time family friend is applying to be a Delta F/A. How do I go about recommending her and setting her up for success?

Is there a contract reference that covers long vs. short hotel in NYC? I have a 15:16 layover at JFK with a 0610 report the following morning and they put me in the Roosavelt. Normally I hate the Crown, but for an extra hour of sleep I'd much rather go there than downtown. I thought the cut-off was 15:30 for NYC downtown vs. short layover. This is a change, I was originally booked in the Crowne Plaza and they changed my hotel.

I called crew accommodations and asked to be put back into the Crowne and they politely told me to go pound sand. The person I spoke with said the cutoff was 15 in NYC. I really thought it was 15:30. Do I have any recourse here?

Go to sleep an hour earlier?

It's done through eBid. Click referrals at the top right once logged in and it spells it out. The biggest thing is don't have her apply. Your referral will get her an email link that will have her apply. If she's already applied you can't help.

There is a general contract reference (5.E.10) which says more than 12 hours block to block you go downtown unless the MEC Hotel Committee has approved an exception/airport layover. If you go to the Hotel Committee site on the DALPA page, there is an "Exceptions to Downtown Layovers" spreadsheet. That sheet shows that, if you lay over at JFK, you don't go downtown unless you have at least 15 hours free of duty (block in to block out minus 1:30). So, "they" were correct if it is free of duty time. If that wasn't the case (they subtracted wrong), email your rep and the Hotel Committee to give them a heads up. As for recourse, they have enough time to fix it.

It's 15:00 and no, tried. Whats really fun is the new 1-1:30 wait time for the van service with the construction at LGA. Cabs are no help because they don't want to come into the traffic.

Thanks. I originally had a 15:06 layover and was at the short. Odd that when the time changed to 15:16 they changed to the long.

I'm going in and out of JFK. I'm DHing in to JFK as my 1st leg of the trip and plan to DD to have an extra 5 hours at home. Any idea if Uber is allowed to pick up at JFK? I looked at it tonight and it said $35 for the 1-way to the hotel from T4. I assume they can operate there if the app is showing me a fare, but I've never done that ride and would hate to get there and then figure out they don't really serve JFK.

EDIT: I won't delete my post, but found some good stuff here: https://www.uber.com/airports/jfk/ Looks like a flat $35 fee from JFK to downtown. Pretty good deal IMO.

Sounds like you figured it out, but Uber does pick up at JFK. Done it many times.

Plenty of cabs a week ago. Cab lines are downstairs in both C and D. No wait at D last week. You can also call Kew cab. They will take you into the city.

I just spent 45 minutes on the Lot 10 bus last night in absolute gridlock -- to be followed by a fender-bender -- to be followed by every passenger getting out and walking through the gridlock to Terminal C.

Good times.
