I agree with you on all those points but the way you made it sound the only thing good about their contract was the pay banding. I was saying that is the main thing I don't like. The management pilots don't even use the contract so how is that valid? Being used on reserve for sim seat fill would suck.

One other thing I like that they do is bid two months at a time. It would make planning family trips a lot easier.

I was talking about UPS and pay banding. None of this has anything to do with us hiring 1000 guys/year.

Actually I guess it does and actually makes my point. If we had pay banding we would not need to hire as many as we are now. I don't have any idea how many less but it would be less.

Not sure what AMT is. I looked it up. Alternate minimum tax. How do I avoid it in the future? I am guessing I haven't made enough money yet in one year to have to pay it.

The whole AMT thing is why I would be FOR some sort of (in addition to the 401k) deferred compensation option in future contracts.

A few years ago my wife bought a hybrid. We were suppose to get a $2700 tax CREDIT. Went into AMT. First thing to go was the credit.

I'm embarrassed to have to ask, but how does one Deviate from Deadhead on the front end? Thanks.

Jerry used to make that argument too. But he never came up with any numbers to prove that it is the catastrophe that it is made out to be. I just can't get on board with it being a bad idea based on hyperbole. I don't believe for a second that it will affect hiring to any measurable degree. We are going to grow at something like 3%/year. If you couple that with the retirements, it's a skeeter on an elephant's butt.

Up to 14 days prior go into travel net. Select company business booking and pick the flight you want and create a listing. 24 hours prior notify crew scheduling and go to Delta.com and check in. Upgrade to economy comfort or a exit row at that time and make sure you select standby for first if you want that.

PWA 8E:

You must be a lineholder (if you are a RES who must ask permission from CS for a front-end)

You must notify CS within 24hrs of the report of the scheduled DH.

May book within 14 days.

Company Business.

DH can't pass through your base or exceed the original number of DH legs.

You still get the hotel but you have to figure out how to get there.

Your per diem now starts at report for your first live leg.

I think.

Just to follow on, there is a great explanation in the Scheduling Reference Handbook that you can download on the ALPA site.

I keep a copy on my laptop and tablet and reference it multiple times/month when something I don't do frequently pops up.
