Can one of you hat-deniers explain your hatred of the hat? I'm not sure I'll ever really understand, but I'm ready to listen. Is it a hair thing? Toupee interference? Heat? Power struggle? I'm embarrassed for you guys, but recognize you're probably embarrassed for me wearing mine.

For me there's three reasons:

1. Too hot and sweaty on my forehead

2. We essentially wear a double breasted business suit, and as my very fashion conscious wife reminds me, you don't wear a hat with a suit

3. We also essentially wear a Navy pilots uniform, and they don't wear the hat indoors.

Carl

PS: I also have to admit that partly it's because of my hair. :D

On the plus side, the hat holds several layers of tinfoil well. ;)

I wear it, but it's a pain especially for commuting incognito. It's always the last thing I pack and finding a place for it where it won't get damaged is always tough. Many of my trips start and end with a dead head so I don't have the option of leaving my hat and tie in the pilot lounge between trips. Otherwise, I agree with everything trico said. If DAL made it optional, I wouldn't ever wear, carry or pack it again.

It's also fun to get the hat lovers riled just as sport.

I never liked the hat but I thought making it optional at NWA was a bad choice. Some wore it, some didn't. Each side thought the other side was weird.

Is there any way to unsubscribe from the Inverse Assignment robocalls besides making my phone ignore that number? Got two of them last night - one really late and one really early. As a commuter, if I'm available for a last-minute pickup, I have a GS in (in which case I certainly don't want my phone to ignore them). If I'm not available, waking me and my wife up at 4am is hardly the recipe for bliss.

Since You asked...LOL

"Hat Time Utilization"..The proportion of the available time (expressed usually as a percentage) that a piece of equipment or a system is operating. Formula: Operating hours x 100 ÷ available hours.

Flight Time of the HAT..
1. Sits in the back of my truck on drive to airport...30 min
2. Sits on the luggage rack on employee bus..........20 min
3. Head time from employee bus to gate.................10 min
4. Head time from gate to flight deck........................1 min
5. Sits in flight deck until day complete.............. 10-12 HRS
(depending on aircraft/seniority)
6. Sits on head from aircraft to hotel van.................10 min
7. Repeat for days of trip....
Total....1440 min/day..the hat works 21 min per day gives us a "utilization" of .0145 % of actual work. The hat gets paid (insert aircraft pay scale) X's hours flown..equals One Hell of A Negotiated Contract.:D
The Hat is a useless POS that should have been retired years ago, but I wear the damn thing because the guy who signs the front of my check says I have to.
LOL

The "hat" looks a lot better when you wear your Smilin' Jack headset over it, especially in the terminal. (Ray-Bans optional)

Does Elvis have an iPhone? Duder does and all I do is I have taken their number off my "favorite's" and then at night just turn my phone on "Do Not Disturb" that way no phone calls or text messages come through except for those on the list. This is nice because when you turn off the Do Not Disturb when you wake up, your phone won't ignore the Delta phone number.

If you have an Android, I have no input to help. I suggest getting an iPhone.:D

Thanks, but I thought Third Person Thursday was yesterday! I'm always the last to know!

Elvis have iPhone. Elvis also have other job that sometime mean late night call outs from numbers often not on favorite lists.

Elvis pretty sure he out of luck.

For those about to ask, no, Elvis not escort. Face too scary. Hair look like Carl's, but nugget too lumpy to shave it off. That why Elvis like hats - cover some of it.

GogglesPisano 05-15-2015 05:24 AM

The only solution is to block that number at the times you don't want to be called.

Priority Mode is the Android answer. It's available in Android 5.0 (Lollipop)
