But what I tell atl88 newbies who talk to me about it is that when you fly with a good 88 captain, his name is Nerd. And hes what is normal and good about this airline which is indicative of the rest of the Captains on airline pilot central forumicators.

I certainly concur with your first paragraph regarding the list decade and stagnation. Why do you say a 16-17 year FO "has little hope" of moving beyond narrowbody domestic FO?

Any of them can now hold widebody FO (at the least) and with lots of retirements coming that will only get better... even if long overdue.

For many of us, what Herkflyr says is true. Widebody FO IS a possibility now (as is narrowbody CA) if you want to:
1. Commute
2. Go back to the bottom 20% or so of the category.
3. Give up what little relative seniority you have scraped together so far.

For me personally, I'm not bitter at all. I choose to be happy. I'm content to stick it out where I am and look forward to the day when I crack the top 25% or so of my category and base. I have no desire to commute and have told myself I was going to stay put until I finally find out what it is like to be fairly senior in my seat. After that happens, I'll consider widebody FO or narrowbody CA upgrade. If retirement comes first....so be it. With all of the retirements and hiring it should get better. I hope so. So far not much has changed where I sit. At least I've finally cracked the 50% mark. This reply is not a "woe is me" response. Just want to make sure nobody gets "out of touch" by assuming everything is unicorns and rainbows now that we are retiring and hiring again.

Shoo! Feel much better now:rolleyes:

1800+12 (or +10 for SC), correct?

If your partial payback day ends at 1800 then you are correct. 1800 becomes your "artificial midnight" and you would add 12 hours or 10 hours. Depending on when they put it on your line…the 3pm "schedule check" (not really what it is but that's how lots of guys still think of it) deadline for a 10 hour report or SC start extends as well. Its not really 3pm so much as it is 9 hours prior, so your new adjusted 9 hours prior would be 9am on your partial payback day. Meaning they would have to put something on your schedule by 9am that day in order to give you a 0400 trip report or SC start time the next day. If its not on your schedule by 9am, then the earliest you could get a trip report or SC start time would be 0600 the next day.

Yeah, they were one of the groups. The other notables were the doomsday preppers. and a few assorted crazies. Of the bunch, the doomsday guys were the most entertaining. You could really get them going.

I flew with one guy who was so crazy all he talked about was faking his death and shooting his ex wife as she exited her church. Me and the SO had several conversations about if we needed to alert someone. We decided he was all talk. The next week I go to work and there is a memorial for this guy in ops. He was dead! My first thought was he faked his death with a small airplane accident in order to stalk his ex wife. I was wrong. He really was dead.

As a typical airline pilot my second thought was I loaned that guy a dollar for the van. I'll never see that dollar. I was wrong, again. When I looked in my file there was a dollar and a note from the dead guy.

Others saw him in the casket. I wonder if his ex wife has any idea how close she came? DFW was different.

"Honored" ;)

I believe you can. Select the earlier of the two bid periods and put the swap in on that template. If that doesn't work, then try the later bid period.
