Being on the M88, I usually feel like the football in that equation.

Hello good friend, I will see you soon!

I just love the sound that those Auto Throttle servos make.

FMC's? Autothrottles? That is one fancy bird! We don't have any of that high tech stuff on the DC9! :p :D

Do you have a high tech vibrator in the DC9 like we do in the DC9-88?

The vibrator that vibrates the instruments?

Boy when that thing turns off you're like, whoa, "oh wait I'm not deaf!" I really hate that thing.

Heyas FtB,

No...when they did the RSVM mod to the DC-9's they put in integrated air data computers and digital altimeters. That let them get rid of the standby altimeter. LOL, it took me about 3 weeks in the 757 to quit trying to push to the setting knob to get 29.92.

The digital pressurization system was also a VERY worthwhile mod. It completely relieves you of babying the system, and also got rid of the wheel on the console. It is set and forget, and will reset to departure elevation in case of a return.

By FAR the most important "mod", however are the sunscreens that tech ops designed. If I were a South guy on the -88/-90, I would be on the Bat phone up to North Tech Ops, ordering 200 ship sets !muy pronto!. They work VERY well.

With the overhead vents open, along with running the APU with 2 engines, it makes summertime almost tolerable.

Interesting. Who's getting hosed because of this today?

Also: Do affected carriers get to fine the US government? I think compensatory and punitive damages are in order.

Flights Delayed, Canceled Nationwide Because of FAA Computer Glitch - Local News | News Articles | National News | US News - FOXNews.com

DEVELOPING: An FAA computer glitch is causing flights to be delayed and canceled nationwide Thursday.

The Federal Aviation Administration's computer systems are experiencing problems retrieving flight plans, a spokeswoman said.
"We are having a problem processing flight plan information," the FAA's Kathleen Bergen explained in a prepared statement. "We are investigating the cause of the problem. We are processing flight plans manually and expect some delays."
Some flights already had been canceled by early Thursday morning, an AirTran Airlines official told The Associated Press.
The technical difficulties weren't affecting air traffic control's systems, according to Bergen.
Controllers "have radio coverage and communications with planes," she said.
The problems were first reported Thursday morning out of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta.
One passenger reported hearing a gate agent's announcement that the computer troubles weren't letting pilots access flight plans and were preventing any planes from taking off.

It is the airlines fault for filing too many flight plans at once!

Heyas,

Did the guy that started this thread ever get hired? Man, he should get an honorary recommendation if not.

We call it "The Engines" on the DC-9. :)
