I liked that bird, but man do I love the 757/767!

Heyas FtB,

No...when they did the RSVM mod to the DC-9's they put in integrated air data computers and digital altimeters. That let them get rid of the standby altimeter. LOL, it took me about 3 weeks in the 757 to quit trying to push to the setting knob to get 29.92.

The digital pressurization system was also a VERY worthwhile mod. It completely relieves you of babying the system, and also got rid of the wheel on the console. It is set and forget, and will reset to departure elevation in case of a return.

By FAR the most important "mod", however are the sunscreens that tech ops designed. If I were a South guy on the -88/-90, I would be on the Bat phone up to North Tech Ops, ordering 200 ship sets !muy pronto!. They work VERY well.

With the overhead vents open, along with running the APU with 2 engines, it makes summertime almost tolerable.

Nu

I'm pretty sure with the MD-88s Delta ordered the larger APU. If it's on par with the MD-83, that APU will send plenty of air to both packs on the ground. The larger APU was an option back in the MD-83 days. Also, leaving the windshield heat at the gate helps tremendously too!

They sent an update telling people to expect cancellations, delays and to alert commuters to keep the dispatchers and schedulers updated of their situation.

Only minor delay

FWIW, I non-revved ATL-MSY this morning with only about a 30 minute delay from the scheduled 0730 departure. Crew made a PA that the flight plans had to be manually entered in the ATC computer, which is the old way of doing it. Works fine, but just takes longer.

I think he should still get some award from APC or from us. A Banquet maybe? We have to wear our avatar so we can recognize everyone. ACL...you have to wear the lizards!!

Or, bring them. My guess is that he took that picture in his house somewhere. :)

I'll be the guy with the lampshade collar. :)

Either that or should I go as Tyronne the crackhead?
