I never paid attention to this so sorry for asking, but what about Hawaii if this JAL deal went south every which way possible? Didn't NWA have a big operation there?
And to Bar's post, AMR did say they were going to top it but do we need to necessarily top it but can they really top it in the eyes of JAL/Japan? I mean, $1.1B, just doesn't seem like enough if all of the news reports are right about what Skyteam brings. |

So if we get the JAL deal the downside risks are greater than the upside risks and if we don't we are far worse off than getting the JAL deal. Sounds like we are in a great spot here. How many surplus pilots will we have when we shut down the Narita operation?
I'm not a fan of spin, but I think slow is shooting very straight in his postings. This JAL deal has so many potential blind alleys, but if we arent in the game, it'll be a slow death in asia. If we are in the game, we can win, but that win depends heavily on the US gov't negotiators - I have darn little faith in the ability of the US to negotiate a favorable open skies agreement with Japan. Their press releases have set a public timetable for completion...that is not a good omen for a favorable deal. It is a lot like investing with 3xetf's if you are not aware of the rules you will lose your hiney. The reality is we are along for the ride, if DALPA can squeeze some value out of this mess I will clap. I hope we have some folks modelling the potential outcomes because its a rough road no matter which way it comes out. Scambo |

Scambo Even I agree that he is shooting straight (minus a little not all but a little doom and gloom). Point is that he has given the readers of this board a better synopsis than any MEC publication or fact sheet has. |
Does any one have any fresh intel on the possible upcoming AE ???
