Anyone see the article about the 350? I like how the tech ops person called the Rolls Royce engines the Cadillac of engines! Isn't that like calling a Rolls Royce a Cadillac? I think the engineers at RR would be a little ****ed.

That's funny.

Former Delta pilot Ken Rogers is running for Seattle port commission - would be nice to get some aviation related experience on what has been a maritime focused group, especially with the infrastructure problems for airlines at SeaTac.

What happens if you're on a multi-day GS and they pull you off the last turn for the Captain's special qual training?

Speaking of LCA trips, how long does it take the OE planners to tag it with a comment/remark. Just got one (at >50% seniority... hmm).

Delta cancels 60 aircraft order following pilots rejection of contract proposal - Atlanta Business Chronicle

Is this management starting to be punitive? I can't see this relating to anything but ego.

It's related to the purchase order was contingent on passage of TA2015. I have no idea about why that was insisted on by the company, but they clearly needed some part of the TA, like low end scope or longer new hire seat lock, to make it work.

Don't worry, the 717s were coming anyway.

It would seem that the productivity concessions that were contained in this TA would have made those planes a good deal. I would think that taking 20 unwanted E -190s off Boeings books might have garnered a special price on the 739s....a good deal for both Boeing and DAL. I doubt ego or punative measures played in to this as it is purely a business decision. If these aircraft are/were needed then they will be coming reguardless. If they are too expensive under our current work rules (which would seem to be the case) then I'm glad we did'nt give up the concessions that would make them affordable. We do not need to be in the business of bargaining for new (used albatross) aircraft.
