Why? What makes you think that?

Just my hunch. The company wanted a deal early. They have a reason for that. That reason(s) still exists. They want something and they didn't get it yet. I don't think they want to have to start all over with what would appear to be a new/unknown group of adversaries. Labor unrest and all that. They want to keep it off of the table.

Thugs?

Never once have I encountered a Delta pilot, doing ALPA work or otherwise, that I would characterize as a thug.

PD I like that you're a constant watchdog, but the hyperbole here is a bit much.

Harwood, Curly, Hazzard, Mullis, Hanson, White, etc, etc.

Next.

Many think he was a north pilot. Long before the merger I suspected he was a south guy. Crafty slow talk. Smiling at the enemy when he is really ****ed off.

My suspensions were confirmed when I discovered he is from Louisiana.

Bless your heart.

I would love to see Watts in the job!

I would be surprised if anybody in the company knows/understands a contract better than KW.

Pretty relaxed for a guy that is at the vet's to get "tutored". It is tutored right?

I would show up considerably earlier on my DDH than planned DH, but should 5285 cancel my only other way to work would be through ATL which is scheduled to arrive at 1930, only 32 minutes prior to when flight 1356 is supposed to leave.[...]

This is the part I can't understand from the PWA:

8 Note two: A pilot who utilizes an off-rotation deadhead at the beginning of a rotation
9 that does not satisfy the requirements of Section 8 E. 8. will be responsible for his
10 transportation. [...]

Here's the requirements you have to satisfy:

44 a. Company Business travel can be booked in TravelNet without overbooking,
45 b. the routing does not pass through the pilot’s base,
46 c. the routing does not exceed the number of deadhead segments originally scheduled,
1 d. the routing is scheduled to arrive at a reasonable time before his required report under
2 Section 8 E. 5., and
3 e. the routing provides for a subsequent flight that is scheduled to arrive at a reasonable
4 time before his required report under Section 8 E. 5. if the pilot’s originally scheduled
5 routing provided for such a subsequent flight.
Assuming you can book the PS (up to 14 days ahead) without going through your base on a single leg (a, b & c), your description to me seems to satisfy d (you're getting there earlier), and e doesn't apply (I'm assuming there's not a subsequent flight from LGA that gets in >31 minutes prior).

So... if you don't make the flight for whatever reason, call scheds and it becomes their problem--just as if you were on your scheduled DH and got waylaid somewhere. In the situation you describe, I'd assume they'd PS you on the subsequent flight and tell you to get to the gate ASAP upon arrival in DTW--but, again, that'll be up to them.

It gets much hairier if you're offline getting to DTW--you're basically going to have to have the same backups in place as with any other commute.

All of the above is AIUI, so take it with a suitable grain of salt....
