When the took seats out of the 737-800 no one advocated reducing pay either. However when they put them back in a bunch of pilots jumped on the bandwagon for more pay for the seat increase. Memories can be short and history is often rewritten to suit a given position.

It's not the unions doing. Doing something about it would be...say limiting the small jet outsourcing at the now lower levels. The only thing that's been accomplished in that regard is jacked up language that had to be LOA'd at a HIGHER value than the MEC originally intended.
Slow,
Care to answer this, as you have quietly ignored 80 and the other 2-3 poster that bring this point up. It seems when someone brings some truth to the table you clam up.
Cheers

Back to Nu's quesiton about: What are you willing to give up to get the company to do (XYZ)?

I am willing to give up... the MEC.

I couldn't resist. I wanted to type "give up signing LOAs and tossing a life line without any pending XYZ addressed..." but it was just too tempting to put out a tweak.
---

Frankly though, I'm not a hater and I like what I am seeing from the current Delta management so far. But I'm one of the guys that should/wants to be flying here for the next 30+ years and I'm not as worried about the current administration as I am the next one and the one after that and so on.

I think a stronger section 1 on the top, middle and bottom end is everything as we battle JVs, Alaska, DCI and DCI. What's C2K rates worth if everyone is getting displaced, knocked down or furloughed?

In a perfect world, we should fight to make Section 1 a simple one line: If a passenger buys a ticket via Delta then it is to be flown on a Delta mainline airplane and a Delta seniority pilot. Then do as congress does, allow for relief where needed but put expirations on them. No concession ever seems to have an expiration on it.

Remember the LOA that made a change to the MD88 TLV? 3000 hours of CRJ 50 flying was pulled out of the DCI system and added to mainline the next month, and those RJ's were sat down (primarily at ASA). The TLV is now in compliance and those hours are still mainline hours.

As to your little personal slap at the end, I suggest a course in reading comprehension. I've not ever clammed up, though some seem to wish I would. Apparently my presence makes their community here uncomfortable...

Not at all slow. I like the debate.

On a side note, I am glad we got that flying, but it is actual proof that we compete with our DCI brethren, which some dispute.

Hey, that's great - but why didn't someone in the ALPA forums say this every time a Mad Dog guy complained about the high ALVs earlier this year? I may of missed it, but the response I always saw in the forum was "The company is in compliance with the TLV, and overall for the year, it will balance out." All that does is annoy the pilot group, who knows the company is in compliance, but needs an better answer than that to "Why am I working so much?"

DALPA needs a better PR job - I don't doubt that ALPA is doing good things for us, but when I hear how my MEC is supporting a deal in the Wall Street Journal first - it makes be frustrated.

In this day and age, how hard is for the MEC to send out an email or short letter from Moak the night before saying, "hey, we're going to support the JAL stuff, I don't have time right now to explain, but I will in a week".? Then within a week, write us all a nice letter explaining it to us.

This is true for pre 2007 hires. The numbers are different for post 2007 hires.
