From DeltaNet, select IFS from the 'Departments' tab. From there select IFS bases. Select NYC. From there you will see the Crew Runner schedule. As mentioned, it is $2. The downside is that pilots are the last to board. The upside is there are very few crew members going from LGA to EWR. The next best option is to take the Airporter. It is a bus that goes between JFK, LGA and EWR. Cost I believe is $12. Otherwise you're taking the Subway to Grand Central, then the LIR to Jersey and then the Air train. It's all available from Google maps. I've done all 3.
Thank you!
Any info on the call out time?
RES this month, with my last on-call block ending on 31 Mar (the last day of the period). I *must* have the weekend of 2-3 Mar off (ideally, 1 Mar also). Based on what I've read here, I suppose I can just about count on getting a carry-out trip if I don't take evasive action. In short, I need to make 31 Mar or 1 Apr (or, at least, 2 Apr) a "hard" non-fly day so that doesn't happen. (Obviously, I will try to YS or otherwise manage my last few days such that I avoid that carry-out; but, if it gets to that point, I'm really rolling the dice at the last minute. I'd much rather work the schedule so that they can't give me a carry-out.)
Can a lineholder use an APD on an "off" day? I haven't used my APD this year, happy to burn it for this purpose--if I bid a line for April, can I use my APD on 1 Apr if I have nothing actually awarded on that day?
My other options, as I see them:
- bid for a line with a trip (any trip) departing on 1 Apr, then APD that trip; this is problematic because Apr is a partial month due to vacation--there are few 1-day trips in my category, and I'm junior, so a Friday 1-day is like hunting a unicorn; and, bidding a longer trip will eat up my credit, possibly leaving me short for the month, with a limited amount of opportunity to fill back up
- bid RES, bid for 1 Apr to be "X" day, bid for 1 Apr to be Golden; based on this month's bid, I think I can get that, but, no guarantees; plus, I'll be commuting again next month and RES sucks for that....
- bid RES, bid to be on-call on 1 Apr, then PD (or APD, if required) that day; will cost me ~4:26 (worth it if only option, but not ideal); plus, I'll be commuting again next month and RES sucks for that....
- PD (or APD) 31 Mar; will cost me the same ~4:26 as doing on on 1 Apr
- Move an X day from within Mar to 31 Mar; I'm looking very hard at this one, since it doesn't "cost" anything in terms of hours--downside is, this month is my first schedule EVER with all weekends off, and to now move an X day off of a weekend goes against the grain...
If there are other options I haven't considered, please educate me--but, of all those I've considered, APD on an "off" REG day is the best--I just don't know if I can do it or not....
Thanks for any help!

Noob question here,
Do Atlanta based commuters get hotels for sim training in Atlanta? Everything I can find says no or doesn't mention it. Seems like we can get positive space to the event but no hotel. Am I missing something?
If you don't get a hotel, are ATL commuters that have been at the company for years and years staying in a crashpad when they change aircraft and have to do a month of training?
Thanks in advance.

APD 31 March is your safest bet. I don't know how senior you are and if you can control your April schedule, but if you can then bid reserve with 1-3 April off and use a golden day on the 1st. If it's a really good reason then you might be able to convince your CP to drop the trip for you if it becomes a factor.

Not senior (~77%-ish). Trying to avoid bidding RES for Apr (and, that 77% will get me a line if I so choose), otherwise I'd do exactly what you suggest re Golden X on 1 Apr. My worry is bidding the line, bidding off those days (cause, you know, I need them... off!!), then being told "Congratulations, here's your carry-out trip!" Looking hard at the APD on 31 Mar as the only true "guarantee"--but, if I can hit 1 Apr with that APD (on a REG off day), so much the better....
Thanks for the pointers!
