Or because working a holiday violates the sanctity of 'family time'.

Like i said...there shud be overrides for numerous work situations we face. And we all face them to some degree because no pilot is able to completely control schedule 100% of the time.

Malarial and terror threat zones are at top of my list...way ahead of holidays.

P.S...so if a pilot gets a gs over a holiday...will your 1.5 also multiple be applied to the awarded trip credit? And why not?

Not likely.

Pilots who can hold holidays off....bid them off primarily because they want the days off. Its pretty simple to figure out.

If your take on it is right (I disagree) then holiday pay will make little difference except for pilots unstacked (or choose to work) over the holiday will get a small bonus and uncovered trips will still get covered by reserves and GS”s.
The only reason to oppose this proposal is because there is likely (my contention) to be far less trips that aren’t bid and filled and flown due to the override.
I have two very senior JB friends who fly a west coast redeye trips every departing Xmas night because of their override. They wouldn’t bid that trip at any other time if it weren’t for the override. Somewhere at JB is a junior captain who gets to stay home all Xmas because senior pilots followsthe money. Arguably both are more happy.

Yeah, I fail to see the downside to holiday pay. More pay for flying we already do. Plus the folks that are willing to fly over the holidays for guaranteed premium pay, give relief to some more junior guys down the list that would rather have it off.

What does dark purple mean on 1 RES day (out of several consecutive) on the PBS awards mean? I bid RES and on these days anyway.

The coverage process only gave you one day, but then the rest of the PBS bid award process filled in to give you a legal award in accordance with your bid.
