Just read this months planning/staffing newsletter. They are actively looking to drive credit as low as possible in the name of profit and productivity. Time to put to teeth in our contract and take back our QOL from the 4th floor!

Side effect of that: the PWA provision that requires the first legal deadhead forces messed up redeye+deadhead trips when credit can’t be spent to avoid them. This stuff needs to be fixed at the contract level
Agreed. Im actually amazed that many of these trips pass FAR 117 legality. Ya know, the rule enacted to mitigate fatigue. How about 5 days that start with redeyes, 11 hrs rest to fly out same night followed by the last 2 days with early reports and a last day with 3 legs 8 hrs+flying. Completely fatiguing and unacceptable. Something needs to change fast before an incident occurs.

They talk out of both sides of their mouth. Depends on their audience.

Exactly. If the sodomizer was around 10 years ago as Sailing says, then why was it not used back then when the company was far less profitable?

Above GSWC puts too high of a priority on it and too much encouragement to try to drop to gamble on premium.

There's only so much to drop, and to pick up. And if "everyone" can do it (with minimum reserves met), "everyone" is available to pick them up... so you wait in line for all those folks to get their 1st before you get your second.

My category rarely has anything desirable (if anything) in open time. Even if I couldn't drop my stuff, it sure would be nice to at least swap with the pot and at least improve my initial award.

I don't think behavior would change much in the end, but every time you flew premium (without the trigger), you'd know it was for 100% premium pay.
Everyone doesn't have to do it, only enough to destroy the reserve grid and no one else can swap trips or get extra actual days off. In some categories, just a couple pilots doing it would make that happen.

This is why I think the priority needs to be appropriately low to reduce the incentive to drop with that intention.

They’ve used it for many years. The management conditions placed upon planners have changed.

Which conditions? Pilot pushing. Pad their pockets before they bail. Stock buybacks. You get the point. Most guys i fly with and talk to see it clearly.

Ok, fine, I’m not really arguing that. I’m just telling you the mechanism of what has changed.

Default Anybody at ATL base Meeting?

Did anybody attend Friday’s Atlanta base meeting. I saw Jim Graham was going to be there. Any tidbits from what he might’ve said?
