In some smaller categories, major holidays go unstacked to near the 50% point.

If you had a premium on a holiday trip, senior pilots would sort and select the one that they enjoyed vs asking for the holiday off and waiting to see what gets left open to be covered as a GS. I would think that unstacking wouldn't even play out, and I'd bet that a junior pilot wouldn't get a holiday trip even if they wanted one.
Guaranteed trip with 150% pay that everyone could plan around would be superior to the pop up GS on Xmas eve, eve that needs to be covered.

Keep it simple. Holiday pay at 150. If you call in sick during during during a premium trip, you revert to normal 100 percent sick bank for the trip. Green slip system stays in place to keep the operation going, which probably sees serious reduction. Senior guys get a guaranteed bonus. Junior guys stay with family. And if I were a betting man...the data would support it being close to cost neutral or a trivial cost that makes pilots a lot happier as a group. Or maybe I'm just naive. What's not to like?

Your logic is flawed. You assume the bidders who can hold a holiday off would then obligate to fly over a holiday because its a 'sure thing' at a lower pay rate.

Not likely.

Pilots who can hold holidays off....bid them off primarily because they want the days off. Its pretty simple to figure out.

If you are accurate in whats goin on...its only a narrow slice of reality that has this issue. A narrow demographic in small categories.

Its not likely holiday pay is gona have any meaningful impact in those situations.

Let me see if I can wrap my mind around your argument. This is a negative because there won’t be green slips on holidays because the trips are paid at a premium so more pilots are willing to bid them. But no more pilots would bid to fly these premium trips because they just want the days off. So they don’t want to work on those days but then are upset because there aren’t any opportunities for last minute work on those days? You don’t like this because it doesn’t change bidding behavior therefore not affecting you at all and pays only the people who would work that day anyway at normal pay a premium? Did I get that right?

I dont care if you want a holiday override.

What im saying is want it because you want more $ to work a holiday.

NOT because you are attempting to alter pilot bidding behavior. Because thats not likely to be realized.

Or because working a holiday violates the sanctity of 'family time'.

Like i said...there shud be overrides for numerous work situations we face. And we all face them to some degree because no pilot is able to completely control schedule 100% of the time.

Malarial and terror threat zones are at top of my list...way ahead of holidays.

P.S...so if a pilot gets a gs over a holiday...will your 1.5 also multiple be applied to the awarded trip credit? And why not?

That doesn’t change anything about what I said. It’s not the best word to use.

If your take on it is right (I disagree) then holiday pay will make little difference except for pilots unstacked (or choose to work) over the holiday will get a small bonus and uncovered trips will still get covered by reserves and GS”s.
The only reason to oppose this proposal is because there is likely (my contention) to be far less trips that aren’t bid and filled and flown due to the override.
I have two very senior JB friends who fly a west coast redeye trips every departing Xmas night because of their override. They wouldn’t bid that trip at any other time if it weren’t for the override. Somewhere at JB is a junior captain who gets to stay home all Xmas because senior pilots followsthe money. Arguably both are more happy.
