It should be that way. It's crazy that a guy willing to fly at straight time to add credit time can't do so out of base. If in-base guys don't want it, it should go to OOB guys who do.

The factor that most probably contributes to sick leave abuse is Capped Reserve Days. You're nailed to the trip because if you can't drop it, you cand get someone to pick it off the Swap Board and you've used your APD you're screwed. And the company can very easily track your efforts to get out of the trip before resorting to a sick call. Unfortunately, Sick Calls generate Green Slips and we must like those enough to have our integrity questioned, but on the off chance we're seeking to remedy the practice,
What about if we negotiated an additonal APD to make 2 a year?
How about a Call in Honest to the CP for a drop?
Or hey, how about moving Out of Base White Slip up in priortity over in base reserve like it was in C2K (when sick leave abuse was much lower) so a guy that wants the trip can fly it?

That's been happening in ATL. I got called in ref MLOA (and other productivity issues). Went in with an ALPA rep. My SLOA was 90% verified so that wasn't discussed (they tried we didnt) and my MLOA was on the up and up and is protected by federal law. The CP were professional-the FOMs...idiots. In the end I gave them some orders...nothing came of it and that was that. Well...that and I talked to the Dept of Labor.

That is not how the SWA system works. It is basically the same as our system. Trips at straight rates are processed first. Difference here is no cap on pickups. We don't want that at Delta! Remaining trips go to overtime volunteers at 1.5 pay. We get double at Delta. Any trips left are assigned at double pay. That part is the same as Delta. Management would be ecstatic if we offered up the SWA system!
