That is the info I have in the first person. Subject to change, and they will be adding positions over the current staffing in NYC. Also those that bid the 777 expect to fly a lot more on reserve.

Nope, they have stated more than a few times that they are going to throw 10 of the 765's in NYC, convert ore 767 to ER et al in ATL. I would say do the flack jackets!

We all know they can get cold feet, but they can get a lot of this done in three to four months.

Management might not be able to put a dollar value on that, but it certainly exists.

With a forced commute that will change. Statistically, I would think it takes more unhappy pilots to staff an airline than it does happy ones. The example of all the short staffing and junior manning that goes on at United and US Air during furloughs.

Then there are some of us that will simply quit if there is a better opportunity out there. ACL65 said they expected with all this upheaval that some would do just that. Management will do their best to minimize that upheaval, but at the end of the day they have a business to run.
Exactly! But we need to get the jets in the bases that reduce our costs! Sad but true. DH are very costly.

What option should I put in to get my call logged yet still remain off the list. No reason to commute in if I'm not on short-call. Would I be better off just checking on the computer? If I do it this way, how do I make sure the system records my log? As someone extremely unfamiliar to the Delta system, what would you guys do in this situation?
DO you have an OK on your sked. If so you are good to go, if not your OE LCP gave you the weekend off.

Also they will credit you your training time.

Call the VRU, EMP#, PIN, Option 1, Option 2, Option 2.

The "E" period cannot be used except for West Coast guys. We generally rent that to third world airlines

Economy suck so no one wants to move, but I see this as an opportunity to get in to some real good flying in a North base. I will bid a few positions here, but Bar will not have to worry about me bidding 88 reserve.

In reality they have consistantly asked for and sadly been granted longer and longer conversion periods. That is how they now have the one bid per year they can extend to a entire year. They fought hard for that. Your saying they asked to give it up?
I've flown with Tom Anderson, the father of the APA, a few times. The bad news is he had a storage garage full of notes and papers from the years he did ALPA work (merger/negotation work). DALPA reimbursed him to have it professionally shreaded as at some point he became fed up and is no longer active. He will have all the corporate knowledge on the issue, but yes the company liked the system that evolved.
