Virgin Blue V Australia
Or 737s. I think we'll order more of those because thanks to the 787 I bet they're going to be a good deal for Delta.
Or A320s. I think Airbus knows Boeing will offer a good deal and they'll match it.
Or A330s. Because some white tails evidently are hanging out somewhere.
Or 777s. Because CAL just cancelled two.
Or 748s. Just because someone knows the value of being a bad ass.
Or MD90s. They're finally coming because we stole them or because of the 787 we bought the rights to produce them ourselves at the TOC.
Or E190s. Just to try it.
Or we go to VCV...

Making empty promises is about the easiest thing in the world to do. I promise to fix scope, I promise to give you a big pay raise, I promise to restore our pension. Wow, that was easy. Saying and doing or two different things.
I would look to see who has the experience and a plan to accomplish their goals. Saying "no" is not a strategy, words are great but accomplishments mean everything.
I didn't know that Virgin Blue (an Australian carrier) had foreign ownership issues, at least not with respect to Australia. Are you saying the DOT was questionning Blue's Australian citizenship, WRT to flying rights to the US as an Australian carrier?
Or are we getting our virgins confused?

Speechless.

Hey, is there a snow balls chance in Los Angeles County that we as lowly MD88 slumdogs might get to partcipate in some MSP flying and see the mythical west coast? Just to see if it really exists.

I would just advise one caution. The last great hope for council 44 was a senior 767-400 captain that preached fire and brimstone and won the votes of many a junior pilot (or at least they said so). It turns out that he was in office for about 1.2 seconds before he proclaimed that the junior pilots had things too good and the senior pilots needed to get lots more consideration.

The Sep Delta N bid is posted. Looks like 96 Captains and 233 total bids. Same number of displacements of the 742.

I'll be ok if the status quo prevails. Even with the elimination of the 50s, I'm senior enough to stay a captain for a while. And most likely SkyWest/ASA isn't going out of business with 800 million cash in the bank. We'll just find other flying outside of the DAL family or even buy someone. I'm not worried. Maybe I'll even leave the industry. I have lots of options.
How will you hold up with DAL continuing to outsource to the lowest cost providers? Your biggest threat is the Mesas, Colgans, and Go Jets of the world. Now's your big chance to take ALL scope back in house. Sounds like you guys have a lot more to gain than we have to lose.

Funny how you say our biggest threats are places like Colgan, Mesa, etc & you are confident that ASA would just find more flying outside of the DAL family even with the higher costs of ASA.
So with next to zero RFPs for 50 seat flying out there, & the 50 seater quickly dying, I'm not so sure the bottom feeders are more of a threat to DAL mainline then they are to ASA.
